Are naval battles supposed to be in slow motion?

No, I got a nice motherboard with a crap processor when I built this system because I was a broke grad student. Now I'm a broke real person and still haven't updated the processor, but ram is cheap.

Aye mate,I make apoint O' match'n Me MB wid me graphics card, probly why I don't have problems play'n, POTC an SMP but that jest be me humble opinion <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Since we've gotten on the subject and I'm in a place where absolutely everyone knows more about compouters than I do, I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard and processor. I have everything else I need to make a good system. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to use? (Please keep your responses is terms your grandmother could understand. Unless your grandmother happens to be a programer.)

Bully, are you in the Los Angeles area? I have a friend who could help you do this and do it within your budget...

Otherwise, there's so many different motherboards and chipsets out there that it would be difficult to suggest anything specific...

However a good idea would be to check on the system requirements of an UPCOMING game you REALLY want to play, and tailor your system accordingly. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Cat, I'm really close to the Los Angeles area if you look at a map of the entire universe, but otherwise, no. I'm in Ohio, and I have no idea why, but that's a post for an entirely different websight.

Heh, I like a man who looks at the "big picture"! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Okay, sorry my friend can't help. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Try looking in your area for someone who does mobile computer repairs - if they're an independent businessperson (maybe try at a tech college in your area) they will be more willing to cut you a break on upgrading your system! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Just a thought,price out MSI{microstar} MB,they also make a full line O' MSI GeoForce Video cards from GF3 to the latest models,I'd be prefer'n Intel CPU,anyhow thats what me system looks like <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
