Notice: I THINK this is the most appropriate place to put this. if not my apologies lol
I know this may have to go without saying, but as a new member of the forums the Gentlemen of Fortune mod is the only mod from this site that i had ever dealt with previously and that was just recently. Despite its bugs and flaws AOP and COAS are 2 of my favorite games even if i do lean SLIGHTLY more towards the original. (Just seemed more... Complete)
Well as I was discussing the HoO project the GoF mod came up and Pieter suggested that i give the POTC mod a go to see how i like it. I managed to get my hands on the game, and installed the mod, but College, Working on the Main-Storyline for HoO, and other things kept me away for a few days.
that is until tonight. i finally got a moment after just finishing a research paper form the devil himself and hit play on Build 14 of POTC. and my question to you all is... Are y'all quite sane???
You've taken an outdated pirate game, and spent way too much time and resources building this... Shipload of excellence that outdoes most modern games with less graphics, and that's every bit a compliment to the effort.
I love it i really do, but i must say it's extremely overwhelming and i thought COAS was bad. I died maybe 4 times before I even got to sail my ship, i botched the trading mechanic killing all my crew, and selling all my armament. I love the personal Flag mechanic though don't really see one that fits me. and the customization is just... awesomely too much to take in.
This build is extraordinary; And though I'm definitely more comfortable playing COAS, I will be continuing to learn this one as I get the chance and as it becomes more familiar i'm sure this will win a place in my heart as the other 2 have.
Keep up the good work on this one mates it may be aging more every year but y'all have given a old bird some modern wings to help it fly. Games like this are few and far between. It's y'all who are keeping one of the best game experiences alive in the absence of high-quality new releases.
hat's off to y'all mates, nothing but respect for what you've done here. As for now i need to get back to work on the HoO project. Keep the wind blowing in these sails because this ole tub has a few more waves to ride yet!
Cheers
