attacking through sneaking???

Please if anyone could help me with the following i would appreciate it. I read somewhere that you can attack a town after sneaking into it and duelling with a guard, but you plunder less money than attacking through landbatlle. The problem is that when i sneak into a town i only find the tavern and the governors mansion, not even the merchant or the shipwright. I think it's if you attack the town from the sea - where you get to duel the captain of the guard on the battlements. If you pepper the town with cannon, the booty is supposed to be less than if you do a land battle to take the town.

You can attack the guard that patroling the city road , just hide or wait until he passes you then run and attack him from behind . So far I only found the governor mansion and the tavern , I had never see the shipyard or the store .

I read that too that you could sneak into town and attack the captain of the guard (yes, the same guy you find bothering the barmaid in the tavern sometimes), but I'm guessing it didn't make it into the game or something.

The reason you get straight to the duel if you attack the city from sea first is probably because they become so outnumbered. That usually happens anyway when the city has less tha 100 soldiers.
