houses in Douwesan which you can go into and loot?

I ask this because for some reason, maybe the fault of an overzealous companion of mine, the local guards have decided to attack me on sight now, even though my relationship with them is good.. I attempted to merely run away and find a house in which to spend the night and buy off the guards.. but to no avail. I couldnt find a single unlocked door other than the store, inn, shipyard and so on.. how do I bribe the guards here?

And another question.. where the heck is the guy you pay to improve your relations with countries.. I know he's in a inn.. but I can no longer find him.. I swear i've gone into them all..

.. now that I think about it, I fear that the random battle + loading a game might have killed him off.. When I go into an inn and my portrait is flashing for battle.. yet noone ever attacks me, I see to remember having saved once and reloading to see my men immediately start attacking everyone in the bar... hope they didnt kill him...

From what I've seen around the forums, the QC diplomat will cause the game to CTD only if you try to buy amnesty with the <i>English.</i> I've bought amnesty with the French (`post-Oxbay` recapture) and the Spanish without a problem.

On a side note, has anyone tried to buy amnesty (for England, in particular) from the other diplomat? I can't remember if he's in the Conceicao smugglers' fort or the Douwesen pirate hideout, but I remember running across him in one of those two taverns. It's just that every time I hear about the diplomat causing a CTD, it's the QC diplomat, so it stands to reason that the Conceicao/Douwesen diplomat <i>might</i> work. Of course, it's just as likely that he'd have the same effect as the QC one, but it's worth a shot.
 
AFAIK, if you are trying to buy amnest from ANY diplomat AFTER the main quest, it will not work. I think that's because you need to go to the "back door" entrance of Redmond to talk to the new governor and HE will grant you amnesty after he finds out you've defeated Silehard.

It's a part of the main quest, which I think is why English amnesty from the diplomat would be disabled at that point.

And I thought there was a diplomat in the tavern on Douwesen (I could be wrong)... Koor, your men *might* have killed him - but he SHOULD respawn if you go away and come back...
 
You guys want some new homes on Douwesen, with people inside to talk with and get to take the guards off your back? I forget if there are any or not. But I could add them.
 
I think I completely searched the town, and could find a single one.. all the while the guards were after me..
