Yesterday i downloaded and installed Build 14 alpha 8 full and got it working fine but on the bartolomeu quest i get the silk needed and then go back to eugene on hispanola and his and my dialogue is "......" can anyone help me please?
 
Sounds like you got further than I did. I recall Bartolomeu said that he sometimes had strange things like that occur as well, but if he'd try next time, it <i>would</i> work.
Be sure to save a lot and try again from your previous save. Please tell us if you get through. If not, hopefully Bartolomeu will drop by and shed some light on this. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Yes, i 've got the problem with Eugene and i don't understand why it happens because it SHOULD WORK. Anyway, Big disappointment... I installed Alpha 8 light and my main quest is even more unstable than in the Wip2 version. New bugs appeared... At the moment, my main quest is just unplayable.

I got the same problem the first time,, and to make it even worse my skin and name was changet with the scaleton ship trader!!!
I think th eproblem already starts when you need to find your officer becouse after that your questbook won't update enymore.
And the trader is all white!!
 
That character swap is intentional. You had a look at the ships he had on offer, right?

But should the trader already say ... after you speaked to him and gifes you a ship? and the officer you get also only say ... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

The trader (Eugine Martin model) is that colour because the texture has a small title error...47Eugine_Mart.tga , should be, 47EugineMart.tga .

Thanks for that one Damski! It seems that Pieter included the wrong file (I had sent him 2, 1 wrong one and the good one) in all his hard work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
 
Can you send the right one please? I don't think I have it. Or can I just rename the file?
 
I just tested. Renaming the file to "47EugeneMart.tga.tx" works fine.
Also I missed "wall_list_spa_wd.tga.tx" from the Alpha 8 download.
You can find it in previous Alpha's.
 
Which Alpha has the missing files if you will, Pieter. And would be great if we could start assembling a pack of missing/bad files so we can just make that available to anyone who needs them.... like me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Right now the only missing file I'm aware of is "wall_list_spa_wd.tga.tx", which must at least be in Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 MAXIMUS. It might be in Alpha 8 WIP 1 as well, but I'm not sure.
If somebody could compile all missing files and additional stuff for Alpha 8, that'd be great.
Of course Pirate_KK will be working on that as well,
but since he's pretty much our only active coders right now working on Alpha 8,
all the work we can save him means more time he can devote to doing things other people CAN'T do.

I like Potc very much. All games with ships cannons cargo pirates etc..
But for now just a comment on the Bartolomeu quest (as it seems to be the only quest that is complete in build 14 A8).
I get the same phenomena as Holocaust1 wrote about. But I noticed that the cargo of silk I had on board was missing when I tried to talk to the trader. (from 178 to 18 units!). So I thought I probably lost it on my way, or had been plundered by my sailors or something. So I replayed the mission but the cargo was different again and get lost as soon as I talk to the trader.

So perhaps the bottleneck in this quest has to do with an error in the cargo, and a mismatch in what is expected by the trader and what is on board?
Just an idea.

If that is indeed the case, you might be able to continue by buying yourself some additional silk.
 
Yes, Sam. With Alpha 8, there is a problem with the quantities. Unfortunately is one of the news bugs we can find in this version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> and I can´t do nothing seeing it's not a problem with my main quest. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
For now, I won´t work on Build Mod until an update will be released to solve most of these bugs...

BTW : I think we should start again the Sparrow Search to solve all these problems. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />2
