Best game ever?

I think: Absolutely.
So insanly addictive.. I got it 2 days ago and ive been playing every awake moment since then.. Now ive just completed it with some problems but i got the 100% <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> and im ALREADY getting an urge to make another character and play it all over again.

My annoying list:
The stupid dancing..
Sure Dancing is a mayor part in getting the girls,, But still it shouldnt really be such a mayor part (as it is now u need to dance a minumum of 32 times to get a 100%) of a game called Pirates!. Atleast my illusion of a Pirate aint some dressed up nice guy charming his gal.

The Repeatedness of the villains.
Seeing the same criminal have all the info about your family, the same guy kidnapping the Governors daugthers, the same guy only the middle name changes on the wanted criminals, etc. gets kinda annoying in the long run.

The wind always! blowing west,
Yeah whats that about ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Well then to the list that makes this game the best there is.

The amasing see battles!
This is my favorite thing in this game. It works so good that i just attack anything just because I want to do it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

The wicked fighting animations!
When fighting in the tavern and kicking down the vilains trough the staricase!

The treasure finding system.
Works so well, you get really annoyed when you walk the wrong way, but when you find that flashing X you know its worth it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The town attacking system.
So well made, so clever, so brilliant. Its 100% tactics and just enough difficult to make it wicked.

Well well.
I surely hope there will be a Pirates! 2 or else I might kill someone <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Disregard spelling/gramar errors though I do not use english as my native language, and its 06.51 here and ive been playing for 16 straight hours <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Its a little shy of the best game ever. The core is definatly there, however, if the game had a little more managment and a little more detail i think it would be. Myabe we can hope for some great mods.

Aye mate, I'd not be one fer ball room danc'n meself, but from what I 'eard de gov. daughter's give ye somet'n in return 'at makes it wurth yer while <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I like dancing, it gets real easy after you learn it, so that you could do it blindfolded... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Things I like...

Pretty much everything. I love the sea battles and the sword fighting. I love tangling with someone who's got me outnumbered and winning by a hair.

I enjoy the dancing and the noise the French governor makes when you turn down his ugly daughter. While dancing may not seem Piratey... once a "pirates" goes legit enough to gain national rank, he at some point becomes something of a mover and shaker in high society.

I like the trade winds issue. It gives some mission planning demands to the game. You're not wise to go sailing off to Vera Cruz in a War Galleon and expect to make it back in the same amount of time. Darn those trade winds!

I LOVE the land combat. Just enough tactics to make it worth employing some, but not so much to make you think you are playing a war game. Sid always has a knack for that sort of thing.

I love the little side quests. Never fails that I'll hit Cartagena looking for Mendoza and the little weasel has buggered off to Trinidad... damn those trade winds!

Things I don't like:

Yeah, I could stand a bit more variety in some of the cut screens, but to be honest, if you doubled them, you'd still get tired of them it just might take a career longer or so... And the amount of work that goes into those is probably pretty big (judging by the state that some of them were in during beta, I can imagine that they'd get complex). So the could spend months working on different battle scenes, and you'd still get tired of them. At least they a fun to play... even if they don't "wow" you each time.

I'd like to see a few more goods types. And maybe a bit more management. Like the ability to move cannons from ship to ship or something... maybe some additional ship types or something. But this is just stuff that appeals to the "micro manage" gamer in me. The game is still great the way it is. I mean, who ever saw a game that had everything 100% perfect that you couldn't daydream about additions...?

Dang, I love this game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'd heard ye can edit yer character somehow,is dis possible <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Dude, crack a <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> . Seriously. Check out A Discourse Of Winds by William Dampier for starters. Or just Google tradewinds.

I think just becausethe tradewinds blow from east to west doesnt mean they have to do that in the game and sacrifice game fun. Lets face it, if you have a top knotch ship and you shoot out 24 cannonballs at a tiny little ship, I dont think there would be much left to takeover. The point being that this is a game and having the winds always blow in one direction like in the real world sacrifices game fun for an attempt at realism. It would much more fun to have the winds blow at random, but then I guess we'd hear from the people saying that the winds dont do that in real life, so damned if you damned if you dont.
<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Or... you could Google "tradewinds" instead. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Sorry man, it was right there, begging for it! Never read that one, though I did read a biography on Dampier called "A Pirate of Exquisite Mind" which was good.

Seriously though, once you learn how to read the wind a bit and learn how to tack back and forth to your best point of sailing, the easier it is.
