Boarding in Build 10.1

Hi, Grimm. It´s good to hear something like that. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Well, matters of taste are always hard to assess, and I wouldn't want to play judge on anyone else's work. I welcome and support anyone who is willing to devote his time to modding. The selection can be done by the players, during testing or by switching of what they don't like <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

We try to be carefully selective, Rad. Mainly it's a question of what people want - and that's anyone who would care to post an opinion or idea, not just the modders themselves - we welcome any input, ideas &tc - we want to know what you're interested in, so if it's possible to do it and the project intrigues us, we'll do it up for everyone to enjoy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

The other important thing to note is that we are always trying to be sure that we can have these mods be switchable - on or off - or at least tweakable - so that if the mod is not to someone's liking, they can change their BuildSettings.h file to customize the game as they choose!

A good example of this flexibility, for instance, is my own personal impatience at having to wait for my men to transfer goods when buying or selling items at the merchant - I would come into town with SEVERAL shiploads of stuff, and go to the merchant to sell items... USUALLY I'd have time to go sell items, then go to the shipyard and get something fixed or sold, and then be on my way - with the time factor added in, I'd always end up going to the store, selling my stuff, then finding out that the shipyard is CLOSED so I'd have to spend the night at the Inn to get into the shipyard the next morning to complete my business.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> I am simply TOO impatient to fiddle with staying the night at the Inn. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> So I have that setting at <span style='color:darkred'>#define TIME_MOVEGOOD 0 </span>

It's nice to have the options - and I'm glad we can usually work them in that way! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I couldn´t have said it better than that, Catalina <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Thanks to all for your posts. Catalina, are you planning so as the next Build would be `all-inclusive` so that it would incorporate in itself also Build 11? I think it would be good. The simpler installation the better. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

It has B11 in it now, Rad. It's just that there was some trouble with folks who had the Euro version of PotC - and that necessitated their installing B11 first and THEN B12. As far as I know, things have been settled, with updates we've already made to B12.

What we are planning to do with this next update is just that - it is an UPDATE, not a "full build". So you would use the same installer for B12, only select "UPDATE" to get what you need. The program reads what you have in your game directory, and only gives you what you need. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

You will still have to start a new game, because of the new characters & such, but otherwise, it's just an update. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

So that I will had to install the game, then Build 11, then Build 12 and then upgrade of Build 12. I think it isn´t good. It is too complicated. You should take an ispiration from Sea Dogs `Add-On`. It is very good. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

No, you don't understand, and I hope I can explain it for you...

As far as I know right now, if you were starting from a pure stock installation of PotC, all you would need to do is download B12. Period. The fixes necessary for the version of PotC that you have were not found to BE necessary until someone reported that they were having problems with B12. None of us knew there was a different version of PotC when we put this together and tested it. That took a bit of time to iron out, but when we did, it was updated to the server and so now the ONLY thing you need to do to get ALL the modded parts to PotC is to install B12.

When an update goes in, it is updated for the full install as well as for the update. So when someone comes by who has a working copy of B12, all they need to do is download the update, and someone else who has NOT got anything but the stock copy of the game will have to download JUST B12 to get the full build with all updates to that point.

So all you, with a working copy of B12 running in your game, will have to do is download the update ONLY.

If you wish to `re-install` B12 (which DOES include B11 and all former build mods) all you will have to do is install B12 over your stock copy install of the game.

Our installer does not work like the Sea Dogs `add-on`. It works better, because we can both update people who only need updates, and provide the full build for anyone who needs that.

I hope that made sense, Rad. That time when you had to install B11 and then B12 and then the updates is over, because we (hopefully) fixed the problem.

It's like any software betatest - there are a lot of bugs to iron out, and not everybody has the same system - or in this case, even the same version of the game. I think you just caught us in a difficult time because this whole new version of PotC was a complete surprise to all of us. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Rad, I think that's a great idea to spice up the dice games like that. As you all probably know by now--I've harrumphed on this topic before--I'm a big fan of small semirandom `auto-quests`.
{As evidently is CCC, by the reams of those he's produced! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_praise.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="icon_praise.gif" /> for which I'm very thankful}

Hi, all. Nathan I am glad you are here again. Thank you for you `e-mail` answer. I thought you will never answer me on it.
So, my friends, I abandoned my Build 10.1 and started play again Build 12. I had to install all the game anew and I was very pleasantly surprised. All what wrote Catalina is true the Build 12.1 works good after simple installation without previous instalation of Build 11 and even any adjusting and installation of European patch ( I have European version). So, now the installation works as it should be working every time in the future in any further Build. Please watch this, so as is wouldn´t spoil in the future.

Charles, I am sorry but you have very unpleasant bug in your mod. Even though the intro of your mod with brig on the stormy sea is very impressive, nevertheless after installation of it the game happen almost unplayable because every time after I entered the icon menu I can´t abandon it. When I pushed escape, for abandon it as it works always I was instead it in F1 menu. It was so bad for me, that I had to uninstall all the game and install it anew withou your mod and then the game started work properly again. Don´t you try your mod before you release it for the people ? This bug is obvious almost immediately. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

And my previous saves from Build 12 didn´t work, so I must play it again from the beginning. But it can´t be helped. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

I am, however, certain that the full Build 12 download from the main PA! website works just fine when extracting on top of a clean PotC installation and then running the RunMe.bat file.

I `re-enabled` the Esc button to enter the main menu (just like in my old unmodded `Euro-version`), but that caused that bug. If you redownload the modfile, you will find that it has been disabled again, so that bug is gone again. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope it does work properly now. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hi, Charles. I apologize to you, because as I just came to knowing it wasn´t your faulf but of Pieter that your mod didn´t work properly, as he wrote here. So, I will download it again and I will try it. Hey, mates, I like such honest and sincere behaving. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Pieter, this full download of Build 12.1 is realy good and it works without any necessary adjusting. I have European version. Good job. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

You're welcome. You did run the RunMe.bat once, didn't you? That will be nescessary on `Euro-versions` for everything to work properly; otherwise a lot of sounds and loading screens will not work. Unfortunately, I was unable to make the installation file automatically do that as I can only create `self-extracting` EXE files and nothing more. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
Anyway: Glad it's working fine. Hope you'll have fun with it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I didn´t do it so far, so I will do it so as everything would work properly. But I can´t find CCC´s mod for new download this time. Can you help me with finding it ? And one question yet. Is the Blacksmith mod included into Build 12.1 or not ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Check <a href="http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/storage/others/potcmods.htm" target="_blank">this</a> link. There you can find the Post Build 12 mods compilation, including CCC's mods. There is a blacksmith in Build 12.1; he is the guy in the Douwesen harbour looking like Nathaniel Hawk. However, in the Post Build 12 mods compilation, Alan Smithee has added blacksmiths to all islands except Oxbay and Khael Roa.
Hope this helps you.

I downloaded it and it works. Thank you. Could you put it on Piratesahoy so as anybody can find it easy? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Huh? Why shouldn't it work? It is just a file on a server and I haven't heard of anyone having trouble downloading yet. Downloading <a href="http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/storage/others/PotCMods.zip" target="_blank">http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/stora...rs/PotCMods.zip</a> really doesn't work??? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />
I wouldn't be able to put it on the main PA! site since it isn't my site. Also: This mod doesn't work 100% properly yet, so it shouldn't even be on the main PA! site. I could put it on the FTP, but that is actually less easy to download from than just a simple link. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

First it didn´t work and after some time it started to work. Maybe the page was occupied by many downloaders, I don´t know. Sometimes such things happens. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
