British Military Skins

The goal is for the end of the week/weekend period. I need to hunker down and get some work done though.

Excellent. I just read the previous posts and saw it was part of the whole pack, so it was rather stupid of me to ask <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: At any rate, these will work with build 11 correct?

These all look really great, JMV, nice job!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Here is a lineup of the top 5 skins by rank.

The Knight, Order of Bath is based on some portraits of Lord Nelson I have. I tried to recreate his sunken eyes, dark brows, deep cheeks, and scar through the eye, but without a proper model, I don't know if I could get him right. So let's say its very loosly based on him. The next two are based on Howe and ol' Jervie. Again, they are based on paintings, so I did my best. Howe was famous for his victory of The Glorious First of June (I imagine the Frenchies refer to it as something else). Jervie was made Earl of St. Vincent for his victory at the battle of Cape St. Vincent. He later took command of the Admiralty and led a number of `dock-yard` reforms, the effect of which in part was a weakened Royal Navy when old `Boney-part` declared war again in 1802.

The two Post Captains are simple enough. The lighter haired one is a failed attempt at Aubrey. Therefore, in keeping with this precedent of basing them on real men, lets say that the `dark-haired` one is Captain Philip Broke famous for his capture of the American `44-gun` Frigate <i>Chesapeake</i> in his `38-gun` <i>Shannon</i>. Since the other one is a bad version of Aubrey lets imagine he's Thomas Cochrane, the real live man O'Brian used as inspiration for Lucky Jack.

I'll begin work on the Lieutenants and Marines later today.

JMV575,
Those look great! Again, art and history combined. Have some rum for all your hard work and this fine achievement!

They do look splendid. But one suggestion. I would really love to see the Napoleonic hat that Lucky Jack wore in M & C. But they still look great regardless. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I'll be fairly busy with other things tomorrow, so I wanted to get this up tonight. Basically we have three Lieutenants.
Nothing overly historical about any of these, other than that the first one on the left is sort of what I pictured Lieutenant Dillon from O'Brian's first book to look like.

To be honest, I'm torn, and I might put one of these blokes in an undress uniform.

No, I will create a new thread when they are ready for download. I still have to make the marines and fix some bugs.

Midshipmen: Yes or No?

Yes Yes!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

They look wonderful! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

I left the British Navy. But these skins want to make me go back and join.
