British Military Skins

British Military Skins

The first of the new British Skins. This is a soldier of the 5th Regiment of Foot from the American War of Independence. These blokes were tough.

I must point out that the soldier depicted is not of His Majesty's Fifth Regiment of Foot. depending on the Company of the regiment he would wear different equipment. The Facings on gis uniform or incorrect, they should be gosling greennot royal blue. His hat is wrong, the reason they were called cocked hats is that they were cocked off to the side. If you would like to see a Fifth Foot soldier of the period try fifthfoot.org.

I echo MM's sentiment, we are always happy to see another history buff come along! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Thanks for the great link! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

If I had the money, id love to own a repro Contiental army soldiers jacket. Not sure on what occassions I could wear it, but it would be cool to own. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

You could get into historical `re-enactment`, Officerpuppy! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> I'll bet you can find a group somewhere near you (east coast) that you can join! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I tried US Civil War `re-eneacting` for a day. I got shot in a small mock fight... had to take a hit because my musket jammed. Ha, we ate pizza for dinner the day before, and I found it difficult to sleep on my bed of straw. So rough.

Imagine what WW1 reinacting would be like lol, Maybe for an extra few $, you could get an authentic renactor trench rat <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I did Civil War Union Cavalry and WWII US Infantry. I was pretty hardcore. Everything was authentic. We ate only period food cooked over a fire, slept in the open or in shelter halves, and ran things strictly military.

That's me on the left!

That IS a great shot! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> Did you have your own horse? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

My family owned 14 Horses. Most were racehorses. Sadly they all died in a stable fire.....we never got horses again, and I stoped doing the Cavalry thing.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> Please forgive me, I forgot you told me about that very sad event. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Our two horses are such brats... they stepped all over my dad's face one day, when he was on one blamed fool that tried to jump a snowy ditch. Poor old guy had `hoofprint-shaped` bruises all over his mug for weeks.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> OUCH! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

Spills from horses can be quite frightening. They (the horses) typically don't have much sense about where they put their feet, probably because they really can't see their feet very well at times. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />
