Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus Full Version

Pieter: in "Build 14 Alpha 7 Plus Test Version" you said you managed to get a 322 MB with new locators. Is it applicable for the boarding issues? And where it is available for dl?

The download link is in the first post of this thread. It was posted on Septemer 22nd and isn't really perfect. Still it's easier to install than the complicated order posted in the Alpha 7 Plus Test Version thread.

.. did not check the date, using this version with various changed/added files and the fixes posted here:

resource\models\ships\Fleut3\Fleut3.gm: can't open geometry file
WARNING! Can`t model class pointer for ShipModel
WARNING!!! Missing INIT message to ROPE - bad ship model
Missing INIT message to FLAG: bad MODEL

copied fleut3_44 to fleut3 and renamed files

Can't load texture resource\textures\LOADING\MUTINY.TGA.tx
Can't load texture resource\textures\LOADING\MUTINY_DEATH.TGA.tx
Can't load texture

1st file copied from subfolder english, 2nd renamed out from 1st

Can't load texture resource\textures\KHAEL.TGA.tx

copied from other location.

Mainly the Fleut was increasing the stability of the game for me.

Somebody reported a problem with Fleut3 before. I then tested the ship and it worked just fine for me. Very weird. I'll check it again.

Mutiny.tga.tx is supposed to be in the English subfolder as far as I know. Mutiny_Death.tga.tx does not exist, but IS referenced in PROGRAM\INTERFACE\mainmenu.c. I'll ask Maximus for the file. Khael.tga.tx is in RESOURCE\Textures\WorldMap\geometry. I don't understand why the game searches for it in the main Textures folder. Do you know what you were doing at the moment when that error message was generated?

Any fixes for any of the issues here?
The most annoying bugs right now must be you can´t leave Duewesen or save Toff´s daughter or board a ship...

In my current game version I have the following problems:
- Boarders below the deck sometimes
- Random crashes/freezes
- Sometimes error message when closing the program

I don't think I can release my current version to the public; it isn't exactly better than Alpha 7 Plus. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I never get RANDOM crashes or freezes. They always happen for a reason. And no error messages.
But I am somehow relieved you have the same bugs, that means I am not crazy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

In my case the freezes especially are 100% random. I just walk around and suddenly the game does not respond anymore. No more movement. Really weird. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I am having some issues with Charlestown in my game: The town exit doesn't lead to the jungle, but to the guardhouse. I tried figuring out why this is, but I could make heads nor tails of it. All the code seems to be right, as do the locators, but still it works wrong. Does anyone have this as well? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I have done the jungle walk from the Pirate town to Charlestown, and it worked just fine. I'm entering Charlestown by the fence at the end of the country road.
The other way round I get the same problem you are experiencing. I can't walk back. While in the same locator as I have arrived from the jungle, the applying icon is now the one with the hand cuffs for the guardhouse.
Since the QC to Charlestown walk is all right... maybe a closer look into the town locators is all it takes.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Great stuff by the way. Thought it was intentional, like having to buy a Tartane and start all over the hard way... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

That was exactly my problem with Charlestown as well. Walking into town works, walking out of town doesn't. We found a fix though: See <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=10733&view=findpost&p=216356" target="_blank">here</a>. New game required.

With the stormy start, the idea is that you are left on an island and have to refind your ship. You have only a small amount of crew and your ship is damaged and you have to start all over again. Now with EVIL stormy start, you get no crew, no cargo and only the tiniest tartane you can find, making the start of the game more challenging. However, in both cases you should be able to spend the night in the tavern; I am not aware of any influence on that. However, it could be that you haven't got enough money to rent a room.

Thanks a lot !
The swap between l10. and l11. fixes the gateway. Going to be fun with the new game too. The old progress went pretty smooth by the way - except for some blackouts and the boarding bug by the main mast already mentioned (helps throwing a grenade, but it costs dearly in reputation). I havent experienced problems with the sidequests though. Tofts daughter for instance turned just fine. Then nice career with Dutch letter of mark. Went to Oxbay at level 9 to start the EIC quest whithout experiencing any trouble so far. At least the look-alike Becket governor got me out of jail ...
... and now the hard stormy start sounds tempting with the new game required!
I really appreciate your work with the game!
Worthy of a 21 guns Salute!

Pieter: i found the files and copied them to the places the programm is looking for them, and no, i do not know exactly which action is calling them. With this setup i had a short test games - no missing files anymore ... only a lot of those bad ropes .... whatever it means.

and i am curiose what means that from the system.log: Ship Boat doesn't have fire places

Went back to 13 v 3, worked perfectly but all the things changed and improved are missing there. Now i need to give 14.6 a try.

Btw, some of the woman main chars seems to have not the full animations, so sitting down with the french officer in Oxbay was not working with at least two from them. I try to play an all woman team.

Sitting with women was always a problem. High Sea Lass fixed it for most characters, I think. But it could be that some of the newly added Age of Pirates characters have a problem with sitting still. Is it Beatrice Devlin who has trouble sitting by any chance?

Ship "boat" is the little boat you always see anchored next to the pier; the one with the crew in it. Naturally that boat doesn't need to have fire places, but apparently the game still sees a problem with it. The rope data probably have something to do with ships that have got their rigging redone, but not 100% correctly. Could in theory be fixed, but is a lot of work and I don't think it would actually cause any gameplay problems.

For males? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> ..yea indeed you just can't sit near women without falling in love or even do that uh uh thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Note that my post was just for cheering up. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Good point. I hadn't even thought about what I said, but indeed what I said is even more true in real life than in the game. Unfortunately in real life it cannot be fixed by changing a few lines of code. Ah; if only it could... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

yep. that's a linguistical bungle for sure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> would be pretty funny if i could slide through walls too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> lets just hope i'm not on the fifth floor when i do. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

even if it was a spaghettian mistake, it was a slightly non-thought through sentence. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

I confused the the order. It should've read: "Sitting was always a problem with women." That better? Then again: Sitting with women still IS a problem. Outside the game, that is... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Indeed ..you just can't to anything about it when that wiener thing goes solid and face goes red
that means sign of warmed up. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
