@Grey RogerThe first update of 2026 is now available for download!
https://piratesahoy.bowengames.com/potc/Grey Roger/post_1Jan_updates_290126.zip
Some of you may have played the new special quest "Night Craft" as part of the "Tales of a Sea Hawk" storyline. It's still there but now it's also been adapted for the benefit of FreePlay smugglers.
Apart from that, this update is mostly bug-fixing and player-proofing, and most of that is in the "Assassin" storyline, thanks to @AkrimalS. So you shouldn't see much difference, but behind the scenes there certainly has been work done to make it more reliable.
You might see differences in "Woodes Rogers", though, where @Jack Rackham has been making some rather more visible improvements.
Thanks for your reply @Grey RogerThat's odd for several reasons. The update only includes a single locator file for "Town_StJohns" and nothing at all for "Lineship47". In my install, "Lineship47_guns.gm" and the "bench" files are all dated 2020, which means they should be in the 2022 installer.
Try installing the game again from scratch. You don't need to override your current installation; disk space permitting, you can have as many installations as you like. Install the 2022 installer, don't install the update, and see if the files are there.
The update, being a simple .zip file, can't remove files, only add or change them. So if the 2022 installer puts them in place, they should still be there after the update has been added.
All fixed now with new rebuild. Thanks for your reply @Grey Roger
I do not know what happened to my running install that so many files were deleted - all in the resource folder????? This was up to date as per the previous update as I started testing on that and totally agree with your statements that the Zip file does not delete files - I now need to find out what did. I have found it had nothing to do with your update but cannot find the cause - very worrying as this was installed on my work PC.
Doing a virus full check as a first step.
New install had all the missing files - still can't work out why the files disappeared from the previous working build??? - Problem is on my end though.
I don't remember.@Pieter Boelen: that one was your creation, is there a reason why it's so expensive?
