Wonderful choices. Really looking forward to seeing these in Alpha 9.

Cap'n Drow

The brown menu I'd like to have mirrored, but I can't because there's a name on the ship's stern and it's rather obvious then when it's mirrored. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I havn't checked these beautiful paintings out earlier but I have some questions:

Without beeing an expert on historical ships - don't they look very much like late 18th/early 19th century ships? Original game 1640 & pirate "top years" more early 18th.

The focus is more on maritime warfare than pirateering?

We have the "Periods" mod now, which allows the game to take place in different time settings than the original game.
The time setting now depends on the selected storyline and the following periods are available:
- Early Explorers (1500 - 1599)
- The Spanish Main (1600 - 1679)
- Golden Age of Piracy (1680 - 1739)
- Colonial Powers (1740 - 1769)
- Revolutions (1770 - 1789)
- The Corsican (1790 - 1820)

Soldier uniforms and ships already depend on the periods. Soon the flags and weapons will do so too.

Most of the paintings are indeed more modern than the original time setting, but I haven't yet found better earlier-setting ones.
If you can find such paintings, I might consider replacing the screens I already made with those. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I've got the PSD file for it on the FTP if you want to do it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />
