<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" /> Well, here is that Pirate with the Black Screen again!
I finaly figured that a setting in Buildsettings.h
is the culprit. The line DEFINE USE_PROPER_TUTORIAL DECK
can't be changed, as I had set it to 0 (start org.stockgame relations)
result is a BLACK SCREEN after I click on New Game! I'll get to the cabin now by
setting it back to 1 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Excellent! It was indeed found that setting that to 0 results in a black screen. I have been able to fix that. However with my fix in place you don't get a black screen, but you do end up in the water BELOW your captain's cabin when you start the game. You can then get back in your cabin by using the sidestep buttons. But you can't get out of your cabin anyway. In short: I reckon it's best to leave that setting on 1.

Having this setting on 1 means that the tutorial cabin is the proper cabin for your ship type. If you set it to 0, the idea is that you get the original stock game tutorial cabin, no matter what ship you choose. I personally don't see why anyone would want to set this to 0.

BTW: This has nothing to do with relations like you say in above post. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Next question is, how do I get off the Deck?
I tried several ships, all with the same result! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Try this: Play the entire tutorial. During the tutorial, Malcolm will show you where to get off. There is a spot at the side of the deck where you can go to port.

I forgot to mention: Once Malcolm showed you the way off the ship, you can of course skip the tutorial. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> I tried it and it works! What causes all that writing in the Picture and I noticed
green circles? However I'm quite happy to get this far! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Just downloaded Pieter's latest update and all my previous questions have
been fixed! I only played the Oxbay start and it seems to be working!
I'm about to board ship and keep reporting. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

The text was because of a testing toggle (VISIBLE_LOCATORS in PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h) that should have been 0, but was 1 because of a mistake of mine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />

I'm guessing that he meant to say:

Maybe some of us (Nosie) should have noticed it (when it was posted so frequently with the solution given of just changing a toggle in InternalSettings.h file. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
