Can the Characters speak English? How would you make this happen?

The people don't actually speak words, but rather undefinable speech that is suggestive of their native language. It's quite ingenious really.
 
If they open there mouths and noise comes out it should form words otherwise the volume should be turned down.

Concerning these abstract sounds. They are repetitive and follow patterns. This is not indefinable. Why do I find myself learning a new language instead of playing a pirate game.

I still enjoy the game, love the movement on the water.

I kinda like it. Though I am sure that people will do speech packs or something over time. I'd like a Star Wars theme!

All I know is I didn't vote for him!
 
I also think it's for the best, because this gibberish they're speaking is very subtle. If you had english speech, you could get pretty sick of them saying the same stuff all the time. And when you know what they're saying, you just skip through anyway, so constatnly abrupting actual speech would ruin the flow for me.

This way, it doesn't feel like a constantly abrupted conversation.

I think theres one simmish thats pretty close to english. I think its the french gov that when you leave him says, "when in france", at least thats exactly what it sounds like to me.
 
When you defeat a pirate and the big crate on the rope launches him into the sea, the meter of his speech sounds very much like "son of a *****" to me. That's probably what *I* would say.

So is FiraxSpeak a Pirates! version of say, the parent's method of talking in Charlie Brown? LOL. This game rocks. Though I have not been able to get a Ship O' the Line. I rarely visit the governors now because I hate getting asked to a dance by some homely lookin gal. TTYL!
 
You CAN turn them down, you know... or are you afraid to hurt their feelings? I don't think it has any affect on the relation with the country, only the daughter.
