Can't find ship

Just got the game today and enjoying myself immensley, i've been finding the odd buried treasure got a piece of the family map and fighting with the English against the dutch and spanish.

Im still using the original sloop 'Revenge' and want to upgrade to a Royal sloop, but for the life of me I can't find one anywhere to capture. Can anyone tell me where to find them and who uses them.

Another question while I'm here, Does the attractiveness of the Governors daughters increase as your rank goes up, because at the moment all the English Governors daughters are plain or mildly attractive and I wanna bag me a hottie for my pirate.

The manual states that only governments use Royal Sloops(not entirely true). They mostly use them as Pirate Hunters. If you piss one off enough, they will send them after you. You can just bombard one of the larger cities, until they send one out, or you can attack several boats as they are entering or leaving the city. In my last 2 games, I got one almost right away. One of the French Governors asked me to escort a peace treaty or an ultimatium, which would be carried by a Royal Sloop. I agreed and attacked it as soon as we were away from the harbor. One of the top 10 pirates (Roc Brasiliano) also uses one. When you take him out you will get it. That is how I usually get mine.

The governor's daughters will always look the same in that town, so you need to find a town with the beautiful one to start with. Perhaps they are there, but you haven't met them, because you are not high enough in rank. You will meet the better looking ones before you can dance with them, but I think you only get to meet them early if you are receiving a promotion from that governor.

Generally you find the best ships used by other pirates, pirate hunters and mission vessels (monasteries and settlements).

Yeah, keep watch for those "transporting Governor" sloops - they are more likely to be Royal Sloops. Get your hands on a Sloop of War in the meantime - they are better than they regular ones. They are usually pirate hunters and escorts.

How do you bombard settlements? I'm never given the option.

To bombard a town just sail near (no too near mind you, or else you'll enter it) and press Space. Careful though: shoot too much and you'll reduce the city's wealth. Shot too few and you won't be able to attack it.

Best way to attack towns is to anchor near it and walk there on land, seeing as you have to fight the main battle on land now anyway.

You can romance as many daughters as you like (or are able to <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />), but you cannot marry more than one.

You can never bombard SETTLEMENTS! Only actual towns. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
