Capturing Towns

Yeah StarEye, I've seen your post on that. I knew you could attack by arriving on foot - it's the only way you can sack Panama <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I have not yet drilled a town with cannons, then sacked it to see how much cash I plunder, then loaded from the save and tried it on foot to see if there is more loot to be had. So since I have not done any "testing" on that, I prefer not to give any advice on it. And since the manual speaks about hitting the town from the water, I figured I'd mention that. Besides, hehe, it's a roundabout way of telling people to read the manual <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I know, you don't have yours yet! But you will. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yes a large margin of victory will help you "take over" a town. But I hit a town that had about 300 men, and I had 600 and I did not "take it over". After the first battle, I resacked it again, when they have about 160 men, and that time, the governor game up.

In that case, it could be something to do with the number of survivors left after the battle, as some of them appear to flee back into the city.
