Character Class (& Uninstall)

I don't know if this is a bug or just me. I started a new character and all the character classes were there (Corsair, merchant etc). I then changed the mod options and pressed exit (thinking it would take me back to the game) but it exited the game instead. I then had to exit and restart the game. When I tried to start a new game there was no longer any class menu and all my starting skills are at "1-1". Is this normal?

EDIT: I worked the mod option "automatic skill distribution" turned on disabled character classes.

I thought to reinstall it, but it wouldn't work properly. I tried to but it said "finished completing maintence" and nothing had changed. I know I can just delete the files but that leaves registery files etc. Is this just me?

Things that might be important:
Using windows 7 64 bit.
I edit the screen reosultion in "engine" to 1280x1024.
Using Build 14 Beta 2.1

Thanks.

When you change the options in "advanced options" a new game is required. That is the exit and restart part.

This is where I am confused. Once a new character is created those attributes can not be changed. To change anything you must create a new character. At the bottom of the create character screen is a box labeled "profile". You can type something different in there and you will have a new character.

What storyline are you trying to play? The Sea Hawk character is almost all 1-1, with one or two being 2-2 at the start. Yes, you are at the bottom of the food chain. :)) But you should advance fairly quickly.

I have never had POTC give a "finished completing maintenance" message. That must be something else. :nerbz

POTC is self contained. All of it is in its folder. If you wish to delete it and reinstall simply delete that folder and it is all gone.

Do not install in "program files".

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I wasn't clear. When I changed the way skill attributes are distributed in advanced options, I had to exit out and start a new game. Then when I tried to start a new game (And it was the Sea Hawk storyline) the option to make your character a merchant, corsair, adventure etc, wasn't there.

Do all changes in advanced options require a new game? So I have to edit them exactly as I want, and can't change them 3 hours in?

I think you can save your game - then change the things you want to change in Advanced Options - then load the Saved Game and your changes should take effect.

You might have to quit the game completely to your Desktop then Start it again and then load the Saved game ( I am not sure ).

I know you can't change the Advanced Options then use the Resume Game button -- this caused CTDs so it was made not available.

:cheers

For some settings, things work as Talisman describes but not for all.

Indeed the Character Class only works with Auto Skill System ON. Otherwise, it is not used and therefore not selectable.
