Come back to Jamaica

Has anyone noticed the map is now a big circle of islands with nothing in the center? Something belongs there and I know just the thing: JAMICA & Port Royal! This place really IS in the dead center of the Caribbean anyway...

It could be a full city (should probobly be of the Spannish model as they built it) under pirate (as it more or less was) control but neutral regaring visiting vessels of any nation, maybe just call it pirate but non-aligned for recognition purposes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Not saying I'm against your idea, but I think that Redmond is Jamaica, or is supposed to be. But I agree, in the game Seadogs there were all kinds of Islands, and each could and should be added to the POTC build, so we can have lots more colonies....St Kitts, Nevis, Martinique, St Lucia, Barbados, St Eutasius (close) and a host of others.....And we already know that anything in Sea Dogs can be added to the build. I also think that more characters should be introduced from that title, so that the people in POTC can be thinned out a little more. They are starting to all look alike

We can't add anything from Sea Dogs at all. The filetypes are not the same. Everything that was added from Sea Dogs so far needed major work on them to be done. All we added are characters like governor Brin, Fred Bob and the Beltrop models. All were based on the original Sea Dogs models, but are almost completely redone.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> mates.

I was sniffing 'round the Sea Dogs files just recently and, yeah, it would seem that there's not a lot more we can use. The new goods portraits that we are currently using were also originally from SD1. There are still a few cool looking TGA images in SD1 that I'd like to work out how to incorporate into our game, though.

But none of the Islands from Sea Dogs can be used ? I thought most of the extra Islands came from that ?

The new islands came from the Russian mod for PotC: The Sea Legend is Back (SLiB) mod.

Is there an English version of this yet ? I look at that Slib mod but like the only released version of AOP it is strickly Russian....at least what I saw

You can translate the interfaces and questbook into English, I think, but the dialogs will remain Russian, so the mod remains unplayable for anyone who has no knowledge of Russian. They said they'd make an English version, but they also said a playable version of that would be done about half a year ago. I have personally given up hope of ever seeing an English version. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Could not someone use a translator and change the Russian into English....would the game work then, or too much work? I suppose if you did not know a lot about coding and stuff you would never find out where they were anyway!

What a waste!...shame really

The problem is that, unlike with our mod, the code is hidden somewhere we can't access, so we can't translate it even if we had all the time in the world. It is said that the Russian modding team is going to make the SLiB mod into an official add-on for AoP, which we would have to pay for. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Dialogs!!!

Yes, sorry you mean the spoken parts and bits.....okay they would have to be changed with English voices....ya, that could be a bit nasty, seein I would not have a clue as to what they were saying in the first place. And they hid them too be mean as well.....dirty rotten bastage! Just how do you do that anyway, I thought all the code could be opened, some can't be changed...but any texts or voices should be some sort of common file type...they change it regularly dont they?

so that bit that was translated so far isnt enough for Englishman, only someone with a working knowledge of Russian ?

Suppose it would be the same for AOP as well......

The written dialogs can't be accessed. None of the SLiB mod can be accessed by us. The entire PROGRAM folder from the SLiB mod is hidden away. If you install the SLiB mod, you could remove your PROGRAM folder and it would work just the same. Try that with our Build. The game would crash instantly. Problem: We can't edit the codefiles. Nor the dialog files. The only parts that are translated into English are the texts in the RESOURCE\INI folder, which only feature the interface strings, but not the dialogs.
