Couple basic EZ Build 12 questions

A couple "quick" questions...

My Download said Build 12 full, is that the same as BUILD 12.1?

In the begining, I picked Nathanels charector from the "list" when you are being helped by Malcom, but I don't really "like" him. How can I change him now that I already started the game? I "thought" you could look like Johnny Depp from the movie with build 12? OR, do you need to go to a "tailor" to change your charactor look?

Also, I tried to click on the button "ABOUT BUILD 12" on the main screen, but nothing happens. Is that a bug? Can it be "switched" on?

Way back when I last played this... using build 10 You used to have to hit certain keys before you set sail. And other keys to do something else so it wouldn't crash...(I forget which ones) Something like, you are on the dock, but you had to hit "I" and this would initialize the game before you set sail. Do you still need to do any of that sort of stuff? OR, can I just play?

Just playing for about 30 minutes, and I really see the difference between the Standard box version, and Build 12. Nice work!

Build 12 full is the same as Build 12.1. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

You can start a new game again to choose another skin instead. If you mention you want to have dreadlocks, you'll play as Jack Sparrow. If you don't want to start a new game, you can buy Jack's skin from a tailor shop instead.

The About Build 12 button doesn't do anything. It's not a bug; for some reason nobody actually enabled that button. No need worrying about it.

If you started a new game, you won't have to press "I"; it'll work just fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks allot! It is still very early in the game, so I will probably just start over. I didn't even talk to the govenor at Redmond yet.

I played a little... crazy, and I did notice that "IF" you die/killed, you end up in the tavern room in Greenford(?)... does this always happen? OR is it just now and then? DO you ever "DIE"? (I kind of like the movie with the bugs, or crabs....) or do you just go to the tavern room? Another reason I used to 'save allot'. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Jim

You can only die during boardings. Otherwise you'll survive, but have lost some of your belongings. If you don't like this, you can change it in the file PROGRAM\BuildSettings.h. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

The reappearance in Greenford tavern room is intentional - Build adds a feature which gives a chance of respawning for main character, however with lose of some money, part of personal items and damage of the ship. What's funny is a bug which gives him some random name. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

That bug has been fixed though. There is still another bug: If you die on one of the new islands, you'll reawaken at Quebradas Costillas, but I'm not sure if your ship is also teleported there... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

OK, I understand now... it is sort of, you weren't killed, but just "beatup" to within an inch of your life. AND, dropped off on another island... like you were kidnapped or the sort.

Thanks for the quick answers. I will give this a try in this fashion, and see how I like it. Very nice idea to have it to be able to "toggle"it on or off too. Which line is used for that would I change, would this be the "SURVIVAL MOD"?

So many different things from the build 10.1 when I last played. Like the one where you can actually hurt yourself opening chests! That never happended to me with the regular game. You would open the chest, and ALWAYS find treasure! I like it like this, where it is a "gamble" to open the chest. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Jim

It is the survival mod, yes. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Thanks for the confirmation! I went ahead and started a new game, as the tailor shop did not offer "Dreadlocks" in Oxbay. Does each town offer different "clothing"?

Jim

Yes each tailor has sp,e different outfits. It is improtant to note that they have more than they show the first time through thier mechandise. If you exit the conversation and start over you see some different things.

That's interesting! Thanks! I probably won't change my outfit now until I have advanced further along in the game, and when I have more... cash flow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

The stock tailors have is dependent on their nation. So pirate tailors will have other outfits than English ones.
