Cursed Ship, ships and their textures

I don't know yet if i make all light textured ships cursed or not but i originally just want to make a unique skin for a corvette so it would look good cursed too. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> Help?
 
There's a shipwreck ingame which uses frigate model, and consequently its skin has this nice "cursed" look. This of course is one of the stick frigates texture, modified appriopately. You could compare both to get some inspiration <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Cool anyways i was talking about making non-cursed ship before making it cursed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Because i lack skills and knowledge to paint a ship's texture. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
the frigate does look nice on the beach. would be funny to see it float with all the holes in it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> just curious, would that happen to be the beach that's used when the pearl get's burned?
 
The Pearl being burned is not actually seen in the game at all. It's just said in dialog.

Are you going to post screenshots of your cursed fleet here? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Also: Any thoughts on where we might be able to put them to use in the game? I think you should be able to get them during the game, preferrably in some way that actually makes sense. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Sorry you have to put them in manually somehow because i was too lazy to add proper ship for these skins. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />
And be careful because there's texture overwriting danger.

GUYS! Kazeite? Thomas the Terror? Petros? anyone who can paint beautiful textures on ships PLEASE!!! tell me how to do this because i only can add these texture layer things on ships and then manipulate them but I CAN'T paint a texture i can only add layers but not painting textures ..GET IT? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Like I said, study <i>dfrigate.tga.tx</i> from main <i>TEXTURES</i> subdirectory and <i>bortoutfrigate2.tga</i> from <i>TEXTURES/SHIPS</i> subdirectory. Then, try to duplicate "damage" to the texture. Once you learn how to do it, you'll be able to apply those techniques to other ships.

There's really no easy way to do it, no easy way to teach you something like that over the net. You just have to try, and try again, and learn from it. The most important thing for me is the ability to criticize your own work; to be able to step back, look at what you've done and have the courage to say "this stuff isn't good enough - I'll have to try again".

Ok i think i'm getting this but i'll probably make my first skin ..less colored ..i'll just have to think now what to paint EXACTLY and then start messing with it.

I will probably paint a light skinned pirate ship texture ..that's a job what i call "pain in the ass". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
And I really don't know yet but i think when basic skin has been made i will probably get more into detailing it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

Red is a color what can go green very well when manipulated,
a red colored pirate ship would be like a gift for Morgan. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> ..i'll try red color because it would match with red sails.

Right now i won't be doing anything because i am still unsure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
dark-coloured red, if you please. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> it's called maroon red. anyway, the pirate corvette more or less has the colours i want. however, maroon and pitch black would be nice. maybe some gold ornamenting. suit yourself! or.... me. either way, good luck with it.

Is there a manipulation thing what changes black texture to other texture color? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
