Dance 101

Alright, I can see many of us here do complaint about dancing. Therefore I am making this tip tread for those who need help. This is my first time making tip thread, so please correct me or put our input if you have any.

First thing first. You need to be at least a little music savvy. Every music has BEAT. Most dance based on 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 music time. You first must learn how to recognize the end of each beat, thus prepare yourself to hit a number in the keypad.

In Pirate! there are fast rhythm and slow/waltz rhytmn. Fast rhythm music is very easy to recognize the beat because after a slight pause in the music, you know that beat already end and thus begin a new beat. Slow music is a little tricky and therefore you must time the music yourself. Very much, all you need as a basic is to recognized the end of a beat and thus prepare for a new beat.

Let's make abbreavation here:
8 = Forward
4 = Left
6 = Right
1 = Turn Left
2 = Backward
3 = Turn Right
- = pause

"Now what key do I expect to hit after a beat?" you may ask. It's not too hard in this game.

Common movements are:
`6-4`-`6-4`-`6-4` and `4-6`-`4-6`-`4-6`-`4-6`
`4-3`-`4-3`-`4-3` and `6-4`-`6-1`-`6-1`-`6-1`
`8-1`-`8-1`-`8-1`-`8-1`
`2-3`-`2-3`-`2-3`-`2-3`
`811-811`-`811-811` and `233-233`-`833-233`

As you can notice, the following move after the first movement like 4 usually must follow with a slight opposite movement like 6 or 3 because you are dancing in a ballroom. You cannot keep moving in one direction or you'll be running out of room.

advance movements are:
82112833

this movement usually occur almost at the end of the FAST music so be lookout for this.

Get the dancing shoes. This will actually allow your mistake be overlooked. If you hit the wrong key or react too slow, you will have a large chance did not fumble in the dance. Very useful.

That's all for the lesson today and I shall put more ideas next time.

Manuals be the last resort! Especially once you'ev opened the game, to find it again becomes much like searching for a lost city <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Another tip for dancers.

To perform the fancy twists and spins with your moves and increase her likeability, you want to be pushing the button when her hand is at it's most outstretched point just before it comes back in again <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Another thing you might try is this:

Put you left index finger on the 8 and your right hand on the 123 row of the numpad. Reason being that you will mostly need the 123456 keys and I find it easier to operate 456 when your fingertips are resting on the row beneath them than vice versa. The 8 key is the longest way away from the keys you normally need, so getting used to operating it with the other hand might be of some help.
