Dancing on a laptop keyboard

Hey all! I've gotten very far in this game even with avoiding dancing with the governor's daughter, but it seems to me that there's no way I can go much farther (i.e. find the lost cities of the Aztecs) without actually romancing some womens.

Now, I have a laptop. Using numlock doesn't seem to work well, and I think that I am forced to click the dance keys on the screen, which is REALLY REALLY hard to do on time. Is there any hope for my dancing skills to improve? Is there another option, other than using the `on-screen` keyboard?!?!

You might try a USB numeric keypad for your laptop - here are some on eBay:

In my laptop the numlock doesn't work either, but I bypass it by simply holding down the Fn key while I use the numpad. You get used to it after a while.

I do not have this problem BUT... can you not simply remap the number keys to say...

Using this;

Keymap.ini
Keymap.ini holds key mappings or bindings for controls in different parts of the game. To change key mappings, find the hotkey you want to replace, and change the character after the equals sign to the new key you'd like to be mapped to that action.

All actions are named with the default key mapping (for easier reverting to the defaults), and key mappings are `case-sensitive`. For example:

Chainshot_c = c

denotes that the key to toggle chain shot in a ship battle is currently set to lowercase "c", and the default mapping is also lowercase "c".

If you wanted to change this hotkey to "Shift + S", you would replace this line with

Chainshot_c = S

The action is named with the default mapping, should you want to return it to its original value

Aye, Fred Bob used dis method tew switch 'duck' an' 'jump' fer duellin'! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Unfortunately, the remapping of keys does not seem to work properly. Only some of the keys change positions, and they don't seem to work for sailing at all. It is simpler to just learn to hold down the Fn key always than to try to remember when I have to do it and when I don't...
