First, the Good News:
What's New In
Ver 1.12:
1. The Pirate Plague Campaign, by Couchcaptain Charles & Hosehead the Bloody.
The Fraternity of Independent
Sea Tyrants has blockaded the English and French islands, such that local ship traffic around the islands is replaced with pirate ship traffic. Nicolas can
either seek and destory the FIST captains responsible (which removes the pirates around the islands and restores local traffic), or he can leave the pirate
ships in place around the islands for extra fun & profit! It takes around 20 hours to finish the campaign. Is there a farmer in the Archipelago? What
island is that chick with the dude's voice on? Where's Whaleshoal? You will be sent all over the Archipelago sorting through good clues and wild
goose chases, and be rewarded with bloody confrontations with the FIST lovingly recounted in your logbook!
2. Dungeons & Doubloons, by
Couchcaptain Charles.
Deserted Islands have been added throughout the Archipelago which reveal a wealth of random encounters and treasures to
captains willing to risk their dangers. Yes, the islands are cloned, but you can forget about the regular doorways and exits -- CCC's moved all of
them, and added trapdoors, exploding boxes, guards that ambush you when you open doors, and all sorts of goodies lying around for you to search for! These
mysterious islands are also filled with pirates, smugglers, and other shifty characters of the type CCC's famous for. You can explore them at any time
-- even in your lowly pink -- and make a lot of gold if you live, hehe. And on top of that, agents at Highrock also offer missions (repeatable -- with
different outcomes) to track down missing persons in these areas. Each of the missions last an "easy evening", and are a nice way to log in a
short return visit to the Archipelago!
3. Coastguard vs. Coastraider Ver 2.0, by Couchcaptain Charles and Dreadnought.
/>The old "controversial" Coastguard patch has been revamped with a new system that lets you change the number, type and nationalities of the
ships "in-game" by visiting Dreadnought at the Tendales tavern. This lets you fine-tune the ships to any level of play -- want three Coastguard
Battleships guarding local shiping? Or how about a pirate Juggernaut, Annihilator and Tyrant II between you and the safety of the harbor? Or get tired of
them and want to send them away? You can set it up and change it at any time!
4. And, of course, New Ships!
FIVE new ships
classes have been added to Surak'nar's Shipyard:
1. The Juggernaut class, by Bill Bones.
2. The Executioner Frigate Class, by Duke
Surak'nar.
3. The Armed Merchantman class, by Bill Bones.
4. The Heavy Polacre class, by Bill Bones.
5. The Iron Hog class, by Bill
Bones.
5. A New Soundtrack!
In the wake of the overwhelming success of Wanderer's new soundtrack, which debuted in Ver
1.11, a second 17-file soundtrack has been added for Ver 1.12. Yes, its Hosehead's Mix -- You may laugh, but aren't you curious what tunes the
twisted mixmaster Hosehead would throw into the game?
6. Automatic Patching with the Official Ver 1.06 Patch
For completeness
of this "maybe-final" version of the SD Mods, the Official Patch comes built-in! Never root around your hard drive for the "right" 1.06
patch! It installs automatically if needed!
7. A Mod Tool Kit!
Ever wanted to make a quick 2-minute tweak to a ship stat, or
give yourself a new ally or officer? Now you can do it, without having to do a site-crawl for all the tools and threads on how to use them! The Basic
Modding Tools are now included with the Add-On Installer, with a guide to get you started, and GreyDog's transcription of Black Jack Incognito's
"Mod Manual" threads from the SeaDogs Forum!
