Disabled features?

Does anyone know wich features were disabled from POTC?

ive tried th build mod and i dunno, dosent quite agree with me yet, so i wanted to see wich features there were in POTC that have just been switched off that could perhaps be switched on with a command line or two.
Ive already discoverd the Man o Wars had been turned off, probally because of the main quest line, so them ive turned on, any other features?
 
Well, as a matter of fact no functions of the original were disabled, but rather a lot functions were added. I think it´s in the readme´s what has been added and in a lot of cases it can be disabled in the file Buildsettings.c (usually by switching some line from 1 to 0, but the buildsettings is pretty much commented, it should not be a major problem to figure it out)
 
no no thats not what i mean, if there are Functions and stuff that Were disabled IN the ORIGINAL game BEFORE it was released, the Man o war is one, it had been turned off by the developers. and im intreasted in kowing if other turned off features have been found

Afraid I don't, not really, other than the b11 readme which has that big list at the bottom.
See, the thing is, very few things were /only/ disabled in stock POTC--mostly they were disabled because they were unfinished, so we had to fix 'em first. There were a number of quests that were in but disabled, in varying states of completion; there was the rapers encounter which was turned off (but also I think needed some coding/fixing to re-enable).
And there's the falling masts, which were added by Akella in one of the Russian patches.

falling masts? you wouldnt know a way to add them would you?

as i said i wasent to keen on the build mods, but i kinda want to get everythin stock out of POTC, or what would have been.

btw does a new game need to be started then?
 
There was a lot of stuff Akella developed but Disney did not like when they bought the game as a tie-in to their movie. Nathan, do I recall correctly that there were actually slaves as a commodity, before Disney stepped in?

I'm digging into the Animists quest now, and STILL finding dialog nodes that were excluded from the original game. I've also started to refer to the Animists as Satanists in some places. Gonna put the pentagram back into the game instead of that beetle amulet.

Mark, some of the stuff you might not like about the modded version of PotC can be switched off in BuildSettings.h - tell us what you don't like, and we'll help ya there as much as we can! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
 
its a too long list, i kind just like it as is(stock) except i would like a few more things to do or to see(like demastings)

it might just that now it says i have no CD :p

and i think somone should make a build 1.03 lol try to do a conversion of the patch for english version <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
but as i was wondering from the start i would like to know how to enable some off features, like the rapist event somone talked about, how can i turn it on? also are there any disabled items that can be switched on?
 
Yeah that Animists/Satanists thing is so dodgy... like the item description for the beetle amulet is for a pentagram. Is there such an image anywhere among the files, or any originals for the cave interior? Like some things in there obviously had pentagrams on them at first and someone just scribbled bugs over top. Man if I were one of the developers I'd be calling on my mafia friends to take out Mickey's kneecaps...

I think even the stock game has a cargo image of a slave in the files somewhere, but I never see any corresponding code.
 
Alan, I'm working on revamping that whole quest - will put back the pentagram &tc... It'll be much better, I think. Put in the dialog that the priests call them Satanists, but they call themselves "Animists"...

Mark, just look in the file in PotC\PROGRAMS\ called "BuildSettings.h" - it's a simple text file - and you will find instructions on how to toggle on or off a lot of different settings/quest features/&tc. It's in plain English (mostly) so you should be able to understand it.
