sorry for the noob question but can someone tell me the difference between the dynamic battle setting and tactical battle setting.it says in the game dynamic is faster but when i tried both i can't seem to find the difference.thanks in advance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

I <i>think</i> this is the same setting that POTC and AOP called "arcade sailing" and "realistic sailing". I haven't actually tried in COAS, but in the previous games arcade sailing made your ship go twice as fast as realistic.

You are correct, Sordid. That is exactly what that setting is. Dynamic everything is a little bit faster. Sails change position more quickly, cannons reload faster, ships turn faster, etc.

Tactical everything runs a bit more slowly with a bit more realism.

Everything? I vaguely remember in POTC it made only ship speed faster, but cannons and sails worked still the same. On arcade you could get in and out of trouble quickly and with little damage, while on realistic positioning your ship was extremely important since if you found yourself on the wrong side of an enemy ship it could pump broadside after broadside into you before you managed to reposition yourself.

Which kinda makes more sense to me anyway, you can speed up or slow down the game on both settings, so it's not like you have to sit through hours of ships inching their way towards each other on realistic.

Eh, maybe I remember wrongly. It has been quite a few years since I last played that game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

oh ok so that's the only difference...thanks guys... i'm browsing the forum so that i can find the optimal settings for me when i start a new game.my previous game got messed up coz i used sailor difficulty and the exp gain is maxed out...i guess i'm above it and got bored of it so i changed to difficulty of captain and decreased the rate of exp.and the game experience now is just right <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> thanks to you guys <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />
