First off, I would like to thank Pieter Boelen, and Captain Magee for being supportive of this project. Over the last two months, you guys have welcomed me more than the members of my first modding community ever has. I stopped modding with them because I din't receive the support I needed to make a descent project (they didn't take me seriously, I don't know if it was because I am merely a teenager or if they just thought I spammed too much) I hope this project turns out to be successful, and I would appreciate any help I could get. Now let me stop with my little "speech" now and let's begin the discussion about the mod.

I don't want to have to rewrite Patron's bio because I already did and it got erased, so I will just summarize that he was a son of a Spanish Don who inherited his father's debts and moved to Cuba for a better life. After escaping prison, he sailed with Cortez and eventually became a privateer for the governor of Santiago De La Vega. He conquers Padres Del Fuego from the natives and uncovers a curse which could effect the people of the island forever. It includes a passionate romance in the storyline as well. It follows Humberto's journey from his arrival in the Caribbean, all the way to his death on the beaches of Raven Cove on the isle of Cozomel.

I think it will be fun to add a new island though! It can be turned off in the realism maybe. I still like Padres Del Fuego, but if you really don't like an island I made up, I can understand, and maybe I could change it's name to Santa Catalina.
 
That's the best thing about PA mate, we don't care what age you are or how much experience you have. If someone has an idea, we want to hear it! While we wont write it for you, we will help you learn how to do it yourself the best we can, and we aren't afraid to admit we don't have all the answers. Coding a new storyline isn't easy, and it will take you a while to learn exactly how to do it. I have been here 7 years and I have yet to write a complete story line, but I have helped others who have when I can, and I have learned a few things along the way myself. Give me another few years, and who knows ...we may have a Viking invasion of the Caribbean!

Yep I really do like the sound of this storyline :yes

Goodluck in starting it Peter (probably the hardest part is starting, then once you get some basics going it becomes a lot easier)
 
Yeah I was only just 18 when I started here as well...

Id done KOTOR modding (like you) when I was 16 and I even did some Empire at War when it first came out in 2005 (so when I was 14/15)...

Like Thagarr said in your new thread about the storyline specifics its not your age that matters, its your willingness to help us on the modpack :onya

You can always code it in the Isla de Muerte way;
that way it's possible to have it in your storyline only.
 
Can you give me links to the necessary tutorials?


And just as a note: I will be starting the mod on Saturday because Friday is my last day of school

That's yet another problem...
We extended the game to the begining of the XIX century, even further with the introduction of 'experimental' steam ships. The United States were present at those time, but were not a great naval power yet, and for what I know and have seen written in the forum, they did not own any island at all. You have to wait until the Spanish-US war, in 1898, for the US to be awarded some.

Eleuthera is used as a US island in the last two time periods.
Pirate_KK's suggestion is mainly to rename that island.

I know that Pieter. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I gave this link because of the historical background ; the issue we're having is creating a fictious american presence in our Build mod, that have no historical reallity, and is based on the way we perceive the US now. I don't know if you are aware of this problem Peter Blood, so I warned you up.

In the last time periods, we do need american trading ships, and quests for the player involving the few military ships they had at that moment, etc. But adding US-owned islands all over the archipelago is quite different... we currently have one, pirate_kk proposition to give it some historical reallity was a good compromise.
 
Actually, during the Civil War, the confederates had bases in the Bahamas and had a prison on Tortuga! They also owned Eleuthera like Pieter said.
 
I'm pretty sure I found some reference somewhere that Eleuthera was a US island at some point back in the days we were deciding which island to make it. However, I can't find it anymore and Pirate_KK's idea definitly sounds better to me now.

At the moment, we've got random US ships all over the place in the last two periods, including merchant and military ships. There's no code in place to take into account the still small size of the USA.

That will need to be done before we finish Build 14 then... Another thing in our big to-do list.

Peter Blood : the 'Tortuga' with the prison is not the legendary "Ile de la Tortue" North of Hispaniola. The Bahamas are currently out of the Build map if we rename Eleuthera as for pirate_kk proposition, and the US civil war don't fit very well in our last time period ('the Corsican'). That's why I am a bit concerned with your idea. Anyway, at this stage this is not very important for your storyline, so maybe we can think about that later? I'll stop spamming your thread ;)
