Event : The epidemic, help !

I did fight a captain that said he was sick, i did not trust him and continued the fight.
Now i have an epidemic onboard and my health and stats are declining.

I tried to sleep for days at the tavern.
I tried to fire all my crew.
I tried to heal at the church.

Nothing works !

Does anyone have a solution on this ?

Its written like this in the logbook :

I have never seen this quest before but I would recommend talking to a priest in a church. Maybe he can help you

I'm extremely late to this but hopefully this helps someone on google or something: you have to spend a ridiculous amount of time on land before it goes away. You will probably lose your hired officers in the process. It's better to just reload and sink infected ships.
