<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there Capitan...have some ale and rum...have a sit and shoot down your pistol in order to let your self know that your here <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> ....well mine is the corvette <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Xebec CT. Fast, decent cargo space, and maneuverable. Only thing I don't really like is that I can't have my customized sails on it, so if I want that, I usually go with the Corvette. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Well, normally I use a Corvette or a Frigate as well, but for capturing towns, I´ve got a Battleship laid up. For that task it´s perfect, you can sail right up to the fort and blast away, four or five broadsides, and the fort´s history. But a seabattle with it is a horrible affair, for it can´t sail close- hauled very well and maneuvres worse than a mother cow. Also, the 32- pounders reload terribly slow, a ship with 16lbs can easily fire two broadsides to my one.

My favorite ships are a frigate, battleship and the Black Pearl!
<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Light frigate or `super-frigate` for me. With the occasional brig or schooner.
A light frigate (aka super corvette) can't sail `close-hauled` like a schooner, but she's far more weatherly than any of those 17th century jibless cows. Faster than anything but an American (fast) schooner.

My favorite ship is whichever one I just captured. I trade the lugger in for a xebec before I leave Oxbay, and then I just capture my way up the food chain, selling the big cargo cows and keeping the warships. Other than the xebec at the start, I never buy ships, but instead make do with whatever I can make off with. For example, in my current game, I bought the xebec, then captured in succession another xebec, a schooner, a brig, a corvette, and a frigate, each time selling off one when I capture a new one.

Eventually I make my way up to where both my ships are either frigates or corvettes, then I go get the Mephisto, at which point it all becomes too easy and I start over.

Hmm, well list them as this.

1. Frigate
2. Corvette
3. Xebec
4 Brig

Fast schooner, I like boarding and I'm yet to see a faster ship <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Capturing new ships rather than buying them is so much fun in this game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> My small fleet now includes a Brig MM, Frigate and Corvette MM - I like them all, but I think the Brig MM with upgraded cannons has the edge because of its manoeuverability. I like the firepower of the corvette though - all those 24lb culverins - yum. Theres nothing quite so satisfying as capturing a French lineship packed with goods and then selling the lot and the ship in port - makes for mucho gold <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Yep, capturing a prize is great! But some days you just are in the mood to blast everything in sight and send it to Davey Jones...

Here's a good one, if you have a small ship and a larger ship - make the small one your flagship, and go talk to the governor (any one) and get a "Pirate Hunting" mission... Head back to port and switch to your larger ship for your flagship. The mission as set, will give you a fairly equal ship to the one you had as your flagship when you asked for the mission, but you can go out in the bigger ship and face a smaller ship and just blow it to kindling! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

And if you need money and a challenge, you´ll do it the other way round: make the big ship your flagship, ask for the mission and then switch back to the smaller ship.

And that I like more <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Oh yes - try it with the gunship or the tartane! That's a LOT of fun! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

2 Manowars with 32lbs cannons?
Seems to work against anything for me, if I see a faster ship all i do is one or two knippel broadsides and its mastless. Kind of funnny looking at a ship with no masts. Than if I'm particulary evil mood i run it over with my shp, mostly destroys everyting with little or no damage to me.

When I'll have 4 Manowars (I could buy 2 more already, though I'm still at recontroiter oxbay mission :p) I'll go pirate and seed the fear!

ARGH! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hee hee, nothing like a little firepower, eh, NHacker? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Have tried a Warship and Battleship now and I just find them too ponderous and slow, even with the ability upgrades for officers. The firepower is great of course, but most of the time the enemy are running circles around these great hulks while I try to line up the guns, usually when there is no wind too <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I think the Frigate is fast becoming my favourite for a combination of speed and power - upgraded to 24lb culverins and with a hot female officer who has great abilities with cannons, accuracy and sailing this thing is blowing everything out of the water at the moment <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Runing in circles means they get to my broadside twice....

Those who enter the passage beetween 2 Manowars, bear no hope. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

I feel the officers are way over powered so I always sail alone, even though my skills are not the best. I just take my lvl 10 Melee officers with me when I go pirate hunt <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />
