Maybe, guards should be made more resistant to stones as well?
It might be possible to reduce or remove the 'stealth' trait from stones. Poisoned throwing knives, on the other hand, must stay as they are otherwise both the "Assassin" and "Bartolomeu" storylines will break - both rely on you being able to kill soldiers with poisoned throwing knives at certain points in the stories.
Here, you can see how I get a lot of jewelry without penalty or resistance.
I'm not sure what can be done about that. Perhaps the answer is, if you really want to spend your time farming like this, go ahead. Personally I'd rather spend my time looking for enemy ships to plunder. :p (There was a similar exploit involving the woman in the bedroom of a mansion, and that one is now fixed.)

A storyline-exception could be introduced at that point as well, right?

My thinking too!
If the exploit takes a lot of your valuable actual personal time and you want to make use of it anyway, I reckon that level of perseverance deserves its reward. :onya

Yes, the time spent not adventuring, should somehow get rewarded, because quite a bit of time can get invested and is not like you didn't do completely anything for the things.

I would not play this way but still it's another way to make money easier but more tediously. ;)

It occurs to me that, if we do want to block this source of free gems, there's a very simple way. Why do female residents even have gems? If you're going to behave respectably (talk about various things or offer to guard against burglars), you're never going to see them. So the only reason for them to be there is to allow you to mug the resident. If we don't want to reward mugging, remove the gems! Or maybe assign gems on a random chance, so that you'll need to do more farming for the same reward.

That's the point - there is no risk. Go in, hit the resident, kill her with one hit, grab the jewel, repeat.

Maybe remove the gem from random residents - they're likely to be in relatively small houses, so they're not exactly rich. The lady in the bedroom, on the other hand, is in a big mansion. And killing her does now involve a risk:
Charlestown Mystery House Exploit

(Incidentally, I've had a bit more fun with her. No, not like that! ;) Remember how @DeathDaisy introduced a new encounter type, defecting criminal, and one of the possible rewards for helping the defector is to be given a gem? If that happens on Barbados, go and visit a mansion bedroom...)
