finding the totem that helps against rats

i´m sorry to reactivate an old thread, but the last user here mentioned the totem that helps against rats.
can someone tell me if/how you can get it if your are not playing as spanish like tonni did?

i´d love to have that rats go away

1. Go in a town of your nation with a bordel (it is much more cheaper)
2. Make compliments to the whores untill you find someone who likes it
3. Sleep with this whore several times without leaving the town
4. After the censored screen talk to the whore couple of times (before leaving the room)

After 5+ censorscreens (how much exactly is random) she will tell you about a drunken captain boasting about a treasure. Ask for details and she will tell the location - there are only 4 possible locations and it is random between them. You will have to guess a little because she don't tell you exact name - but close enough to guess. The treasure is in a chest at the landing beach; no skeletons or treasure hunters.

ok, looks like i´m too stupid for that.
i got the information and it said "Gulf of San Juan del Nore". (Nore could also have been Norte)
got the info in bridgetonw, so i searched on the one coast of puerto rico (san juan is on puerto rico)
and the two on turks island as that is north of san juan.

i thought of it as something in the north near san juan, anybody another idea?

Ise needs to be checkin my maps laddy to help ya more, but San Juan Del Nore (or whateva it be) be on the mainland iffn Ise remembers correctly. Different place den San Juan.

EDIT: It be just North of Puerto Bello on da mainland, lad.

anyway, another question coming up.
i found a totem there, something about the totem of the god of the dead.
but it doesn´t help against rats

is the chance to that the rat totem random?
if so, can i redo the mission in another bordel?

Hmmm, never saw dat happen, fer sure.

There should have been a single unguarded chest on the beach. Did you find the totem you are talking about in there? Or somewhere else in the area?

Maybe there was more than one chest? Never saw more than one myself.

Since I've never seen this quest fail, I've never tried to repeat it. Give it a shot, all you have to lose is a little cash. But the number of times you need to speak with the lady is variable. It's at least 5 times, that we know. I've never had to do it more than 8 times. I'd say of you go ten without getting a treasure speech from her, then it's not repeatable.

In that case, someone elsewhere mentioned getting one through the "pearl quests". I don't know that one yet, but perhaps someone else can chime in.

I got it in the CoAS while finishing the kill the beggars quest. I'm not sure if it was a random item or not, but i did get two of them, so I have a backup just in case! I was really impressed with that quest btw, there really is a LOT to do in this game!

As far as I remember THERE is an aztec totem on San Juan del Norte and it is not part of the whore quest. It is just a totem which is there for you to find and use it and maybe use later for another quest. I bet this totem was just lying on the earth, right? The RatGod totem you need is in a chest somewhere in the beach. Return there and comb through the beach again - the WHOLE beach - not only where the water was... there are caves and such on the same place.

Actually, since I started a new character, I pulled this exact mission from the whore today.

There is no chest on the beach in this location. But there are caves. In there is a +20 stealth totem lying in the open. In a branching tunnel there is an exit by a broken chest that opens in to a grassy area. Take a left immediately and the chest is right there. Had the Rat God totem, some jewelry and about 15k.

yes, i just found the totem lying on the ground and thought "oh, nice...that´s it" k
will check the area again and take a second look
