FOG!

Heya; While im aware that fog is integral to the realsim of the game, it seems to find me rather often. Indeed, it seems I have 20 times more fog than any other weather. while its fun to blind-shoot it does get tiresome when almost every battle is like this. Is there a way of tweaking fog depth or show-time or something?

Thanks, Skye

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> you can change that in Buildsettings.h, look for:
#define WEATHER_UPDATE_AT_SEA 1
// 0: Stock PotC, no weatherchange in sailingview
// 1: Weather changes during sailing every gamehour
This is from Build 13 full version! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Ok; thanks. I guess that is the only real way. I invaded <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> the weather folder and found that in the weather files fog has a 20 after it whilst rain and other weathers have 11 or below. Are these numbers something to do with it? I tried naughting them but i still got fog so I guess I will just have to chuck weather completly. Thanks, nosie! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I very much agree with you.
Dr. Maturin's weather mod greatly reduces the fog.
You could give it a try, but it's not entirely perfect yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Ive found a way! I went to the weather files, 'evening, morning and day' in the Weather/WeatherInit and simply changed where it says 'true' next to the 'fog_enable' to false. I didnt touch the 'special sea fog' lines as they are obviously the ones which control the mist which permanently hangs over the sea, but i did ichange the others and havnt had any fog since. Its probably worked as I would normally have gotten loads of fog so far but Is this a logical' fix?

Thanks Skye

one more question; does anyone know what the special compass is in relation to the game? I know the enhanced one is 'compass3' but cant find a 'compass4'. I know its cheating, but my JS quest doesn't seemt o work with half the islands so I can't really get it 'properly'! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Builds 11 and 12 had a <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->#define FOG_CHANCE <!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> line in Buildsetting.h

It was to control the chance of fog ranging from 30/30 down to 1/30 chance.
Setting it to zero was supposed to toggle fog off, although I don't remember that part working correctly.

Too bad it was removed/never made to work right, in build 13.

Aye; so i guess how I did it is the only way to do it simply in build 13, 14?

O.k, Thanks!

Indeed that isn't in my game version. Beats me where it went.
I sure didn't remove it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
