Frigate:Rum Qty 426.Can't sell or transfer+Stuck in block

Hi..I captured a Frigate..One of many in the past, but this time I could not reduce the Rum from over 400, by sale or transfer.
Also now and again I'me stuck in block, (sword arm wont work).. I have to exit the area real fast then disarm----arm, and go back into the fight.......
The frigate in question got sunk soon after....I can't say I was sorry to see it go!....Whoosh..Got run down by a M O W!!! Lost a couple of good Officers....
Another thing: soon after starting the game, (on PC), I captured a Frigate and a Corvette that could carry 32 inch Guns but have'nt seen one since.
Is this intentional programming, or is it a Bug???
Niether very drastic, but I would be very interested in the reason.

The `stuck-in`-block thing I think results from both block and something else being assigned to mouse buttons.
Assign block to a key and you should be OK.

Dunno about the rum.

`Pirate-nation`'d ships can carry a caliber one heavier than normal.

I have the block control set on "Ctrl", at the moment....The frozen arm or action only occurs now and again..one precaution I have been taking is to
disarm after a single encounter, say in a dungeon or cave,then take sword- in- hand for the next.

I have considered using a Zebeck BS, for a while,(fantastic turn and speed).
and quite well armed.
blasting small ships out of the water with a M O W. can be a bit boring.
I have just recentley noticed that using a smaller ship when on a " Pirate Hunting Mission can result in the subsequent commandeering of ship of around the same size...All makes the Game even more interesting!!
Please excuse me for asking at this point; but can Sid Meiers Pirates be installed on my "Windows XP or would I be better to load it into one of my "Windows 98SE", partitions?
How does the XP version, or versions, compare to The PC versions?

And in fact, if you have "ship capping" set on (it's on the difficulty page/in the difficulty dialog), that's true for all random encounters.

I don't know about the original Pirates!, but Pirates! Gold for Windows (_not_ the DOS version, the Windows one!) works fine on XP.
You just need to:
1. Set desktop to 640x480 at 256 colors
2. Use a slowdown application like CPUKiller

and then run the game!

I had a Flyer from "Gameplay"....Selling, "Sid Meires Pirates", also it seems "Sid Meires Pirates 2. is being, or has been released.
I think I will get hold of both.

MY opinion? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" /> Well, I am not what you might call a "typical gamer" - in fact I think you might say I'm NOT a gamer, really... I do play, but I don't get into what you might call mainstream games. I like puzzle, `real-time` strategy, micromanagement games that make you think, rather than slash and hack and punch and kick games (although shooting things with cannons ROCKS! Heehee!)... The games I typically play would bore most gamers, I think...

That said, not in any particular order, I like PotC MODDED... The original is not so hot, but modded it has so much potential! I'm biased because I like to mod for the game, tho... I have so many scenarios in my head for PotC... Heh...

The new SMP! is a heckuva lot of fun to play. More missions? Oh yes...

I absolutely LOVE Uncharted Waters and Uncharted Waters, New Horizons. Ollllllld games but I'm still playing them.

I had a lot of fun with Corsairs, which is a French/Canadien (Microids) game, not the original Sea Dogs from Akella.

I also enjoyed Tropico 2 Pirate Cove.

In the future, I am very interested in seeing what Akella will release - they are working on Sea Dogs II (what PotC was supposed to be until Disney bought it as a `tie-in` for their movie), a really `AWESOME-looking` WW2 `PT-Boat` sim called Knights of the Seas, and several other `piratey-flavored` games.
