GalleonC3

Thank you. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

why is this
[attachment=1214:zeiltjuh.bmp]sail so small?
i like the ship only that one little sail looks weird

You are quite right. I noticed that as well. I'd like to see it removed from the model. Other than that: Good ship! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

What do you mean "small"? It's staysail - as witnessed on other ships, it can be so small. It should have trapezoidal shape, however, not rectangular.

I think an average stay sail, the mainstay for example, should run from the mainmast's fighting top to the foremast, level with the bottom of the forecourse. The one pictured above looks too small to have any positive effect.
Now a mizzen topstay could be that small...

I just mean it looks weird to my unprofessional eyes to have a sail sort-of "floating" there above the deck. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

somehow i completely understand what the commodore's talking about. anyway, having a triangular staysail there would also be possible, but i think that there should at least be a staysail above it.

a triangular staysail would be better or a bigger one than this. it's a awesome ship <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> only that sail looks weird

Would it be possible to make luw-sails on a ship in PotC?

(I think its the word for them in english..ya know those sails they put on the end of the regular squaresails when the wind is quiet in order to gain more sailarea?)

you mean studding sails? i'm not sure if they excisted yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

No... not on a galleon or anything. But if a model of the <i>Constitution</i> were made, there'd have[/i] to be a version with studdingsails on it... because she was known for speed and high-preformance. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Thx both of You. Thats settled then. No studdingsail <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

besides, i think studding sails on a galleon would look kinda wierd. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> on a corvette, however, they might look pretty good. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> but anyway, it's the wrong era.

I think you could, in theory, put studding sails on a PotC ship, but you can't switch between the non-studding sails version and the studding-sails version without going ashore or to the worldmap.

Aye, but if a <i>Constitution</i> was made... there'd have to be a studdingsail version. She would be a heavy, high speed and performance frigate.
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

You would be able to sail with studding sails into the wind though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Yeah... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
But it would still look amazing.
