I really like playing the dice/poker/vingt un in the tavern, but I feel like we are missing a lot by not having a specific place for gambling. Would be a neat feature to have, and something like poker tournaments?

Having a dedicated gambling den or casino in the game would add a whole new layer of fun and excitement. It could be a fantastic place for players to test their luck and skills in various card and dice games.
And if you're into poker, imagine the thrill of poker tournaments right within the game. It could bring some serious competition and entertainment.

It certainly works in Build 14 and should work in Build 15; the code for the gambler's special quest is in both versions.
 
Just that you're playing FreePlay and your background is Gambler.

Being a gambler, you'll want to gamble in taverns as well, which is going to be easier than for other character types. Several taverns have one or two permanent residents. If you talk to them, sometimes they want to gamble and sometimes they want to drink. If you're a gambler, they're more likely to want to gamble. Eventually one of them offers the Girl Won in a Card Game sidequest. When he does, take the bet, don't kill him!

Thanks, I've had 'The Girl Won in a Card Game' quest before , but I wasn't a Gambler. I'll try this, sounds like fun.

Found the Gambling Den. Went in. There were three guys inside. One looked like a clerk. One was maybe a bartender. The other two were players. I could only interact with one of them. Played a few hands, I took all his money and left. Seems like I'm missing something.
 
If you mean the gambling house in Cartagena, that is indeed what happens. The player uses the same dialog file as the characters in taverns who sometimes offer to drink and sometimes offer to gamble. The code in that file checks if you're in the gambling house and if so, always goes to gamble instead of randomly choosing between drinking and gambling.

Other characters in the gambling house aren't players; they use the same dialog file as permanent citizens on the streets and can tell you about the town.

So the only differences between gambling here and in a tavern is that you're guaranteed to be able to gamble and the stakes are higher.
