I know this is probably <i>really</i> simple but anyone know where the gamedir folder is? i've tried to find cheats (ya I know i'm just lazy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> ) for pirates of the caribbean and all I can find is this

Mings is confused by the instructions as well, so you are not alone.

First off, I don't think there is such a thing as a gamedir folder, but the game has been modded beyond the Build 11 version that I'm currently looking at the files of, so I might be mistaken about that. Never fear, however, I'm sure that one of the smarter members will be along shortly, and if I am mistaken about this they can enlighten both of us. The way I'm reading it, with GAMEDIR coming before PROGRAM, I'm guessing that this doesn't refer to an actual folder it just means wherever on your computer you have the game loaded.

Next, let us all here know if you are playing with a modded or unmodded version of POTC. I think that some of the files you have listed are only in a Build version, i.e. you have to have downloaded one of the versions of the Build, so if you've got an unmodded version of the game that might explain why you are having trouble locating those files.

On my computer, again, a Build 11 version, seadogs.c is already in the PROGRAM file, and init_pc.c is already in PROGRAM/CONTROLS, so there shouldn't be a reason to copy them to there, however, when I start a new game and press the letters listed below, nothing happens, even though seadogs.c makes reference to all the cheats mentioned in your post.

I have to say that I've never found POTC to be so difficult to play that cheats were needed, but there are plenty of things that can be altered in characters_init.c that will do some of the things listed below, even in an unmodded game, so if you let us know what you want to do, start with more money or a better weapon, or more experience, and we can help you there.

So, let us know what version of the game you are playing, and also if you have an English or European version of the game, (I realize that's that the English are Europeans, ...but do they? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> ) and I'm sure we'll be able to get you on the right tack. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

What you are talking about are the instructions that came in a file called "cm-pocch.zip".

It was posted by a Cyberman back in July 2003 to various game-cheat web sites.
He modified two files to add those cheats.

You should have gotten those two files included with the instructions.

Gamedir is whatever directory contains the game, in most cases:
C:\Program files\Bethesda Softworks\Pirates of the Caribbean

If on your system there isn't a directory which was mentioned above, try to search disks for file ENGINE.EXE. Then, in this directory, PROGRAM folder should be present.

Thankyou sooo much I've found the file to download at

Its half english half god knows what but there is only one download and the instruction are english.
Ignore the confusing instruction on installation and just save it to your desktop then extract both files into the C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Pirates of the Caribbean
and just overwrite the previous files.
then start a new game and press
Y God mode On/Off
U Shotgun mode (first person mode) On/Off
I +100000 Gold points
O +50 Skill points
P Set reputation with all nations to Neutral

Trust me you will get tired of those cheats soon enough, and they don't make up for the limitations in the original game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Yes, you can get it at Pirates Ahoy.

Playing stock POTC first is a good idea as it will teach you the basic gameplay techniques.

You will also be able to better appreciate the changes made in the Build.

I was up a lot of last night trying out this mod cheat that I downloaded yesterday and I don't know whether anyone else had this same glitch but I can't speed up the sailing anymore. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
It doesn't matter too much I suppose I can just see it getting a little annoying before long.
Anyone else had this same prob?
