Getting food options ingame

Nobody's working on it and nobody is planning to at the moment, at least as far as I'm aware.
Of course we don't have many modelers; ZarethPL does mainly ships and Damski62 is temporarily gone.
Is it fairly straightforward to create the simplest model, i.e. a flat, sandy, round beach?
I haven't got a clue. Nobody ever put a completely new location model into the game, though it should be possible with Maya + plugin.
is there a tutorial for that sort of thing?
