I have to say, I've been testing your SWAK/Stormy Start mod and I really like it! The new weapons are a gas!!! <---pun, lol!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I've saved my game in a spot where there are some highwaymen waiting to ambush me, and have played around with the sandbag, cobblestone, stinkpot, and grenade... Whewwww, you can't use that grenade for `close-in` fighting or you will DIE! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I knocked one out and when he came to he started walking about like he forgot he wanted to rob me. I'll test it later today; wasn't able to download it till just now. I played the original SWAK weapons, though, and loved them to pieces.

Right after installing it I got a C++ error so the game wouldn't start. Traced it to a supposedly invalid line, I think it was in utilities.c, or one of the character files maybe... the line was under something about choosing sails, "RMGetHighestRank," a line in a recent change, I think by NK... the error report said that line is invalid or unrecognized. I fixed it by restoring that section of the code from a previous install, and everything works fine.* It's realy great, actually, as I expected. Eagerly awaiting the full release.

*except that the `1-4` key weapon selection didn't seem to work, but I haven't looked too closely into that. It worked before, when I pasted in the code CCC posted.

Also, in one game I was started at Douwesen, so I entered Smugglerville, but when I walked into the leader's house everything went black. Modhelper couldn't quite say what the `dilly-o` was.

It is the Blacksmith mod asking for 4 sword gm files for that location.

I'll post it for download in a week or so. I would like to have it tested by a smaller circle before unleashing it on the public. Saves players some disappointment and me some negative feedback. At the moment I can see no connection to my stuff there, but you can never tell.
Especially as the hotkeys are in Seadogs.c, which is a central keyfile affecting the whole game.
The difference between the hotkey code that worked for you and the latest one is that the variables for th weapons assigned to the keys can be customized in Buildsettings2.h
I'll check the Smuggler residence anyway.
 
Petros: So the smuggler HQ location is wanting the sword models? I'll look into that, but I really don't see how it's possible...

oh wait, shoot, unless I did something in initial playtesting and forgot to undo it. But I don't recall touching that location. We shall see.
 
CouchCaptainCharles, this looks really fun.

Now I´ve tried to add individuel sounds to each cannon type like your new item got their sounds. Like rcannon.sound = etc etc It wasn´t that easy. Where do I tell the game there is a new parameter (correct word?) for cannons.
The idea was to borrow cannon sounds from ... where I can find them. I know where to turn off the existing "randomized" sounds for cannons. (in AI_balls or sound_alias)
 
Eh, crud, I was right... I did my initial playtesting using that smuggler HQ location, and plumb forgot to remove those code references. I'll fix this when I send Cat updated/fixed files, but you can fix it yourself by opening the concieco.c location file, finding the section for that house, and removing the bits of code asking for all those sword and cannon and gun models.

I haven't worked with ship or cannon AI so far, so probably you know more about that than I <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

But if you already know which codesection you must disable to silence the original guns it might work if you replace that with something like (Pseudocode ! ) :

if(cannontype = "12pounder") PlaySound("objectsshipchargeJacks_new_12poundsound.wav");
if(cannontype = "16pounder") PlaySound("objectsshipchargeJacks_new_16poundsound.wav");
etc.

Of course you must use the correct variablenames for cannontypes and your .wav files

Today i had something even weirder: Key "4" for grenades worked, but the others didn't. Also the "C" Key for potionuse doesn't work at sea anymore, where he was supposed to trigger my new firedrill.
To bad that our Interface experts aren't around at the moment. Seems like I must work myself into that topic as well <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Aye, same here: key 4 works, but not the others. OR else after trying the other keys I get all the string log messages upon leaving the location and entering a new one. Once it even cycled through my ammo types as soon as I boarded my ship at port.

(Was the firedrill included in this release, by the way? I never got around to putting that code in.)

And I wish I knew what disables the F2 menu... that's a `pet-peeve` of mine.
