Hello, Fellows !

This is my first post and i already got some questions.

1.) A friend of mine installed the build 10.1 a couple of days ago.
Now he was about to enter the Mefisto at the end of the quest, but
the game keeps crashing. I already tried to press "t" and then i tried to
install build 11, but nothing seems to work. I already learned this bug at
entering ships is well known, but maybe i just missed the most recent
solutions for it.

2.) How hard is it to build your own quests ? I already got rudimentary
programming skills, but rather with C++ than with delphi. Probably you
can help me out with some links ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

3.) I already read something about an upcoming build including

a.) is this true ?
b.) has anyone already any idea when it might probably be almost finished ?

4.) Is there any "documentation" of the new features ? I know this might sound a bit stupid but it took me about 20 hours to find out how i share the plunder, or better where i do it <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

But after all... i just can say the work you all did so far was awesome, breathtaking, most inspiring and definitely MUCHO FUN, lads.

Seems bethesda always inspires a lot of modders to invest a lot of effort .

hi and welcome here

1) didnt know that the `mefisto-quest` works at all with build - thought theres a bug....
i cant finish the quest ,maybe due to my german version.

2) 30 island???? dont think so (but im too a newbie here).but i read, that the next build will include ONE new island....(am i wrong?)

4) a documentation can be found in ur `PotC-folder`. there are some `txt-files`.

Build Readme.rtf should cover most mods. The one with 10.1 is barely sufficient; the one with 11 is better.
The Mefisto quest I have indeed screwed up in _both_ builds, but both builds have patches that fix it.
If you're playing 10.1, make sure you have the latest version. I don't recall if it's still available though.

My recollection however is that you can indeed install 11 right on top, but make sure here you're also getting the latest version. To check, run the install again, and choose _only_ Online Updates, and install that on top.

Regarding making quests. Yeah, the scripts are basically C, with some differences and simplifications. Check the PA Course on C thread that's sticky'd at the top of this forum for details, especially the later pages and the links they contain.
 
Well thanks so far Nathan, but could it be that my current saves are
corrupt due to the online update i made 10 hours ago ?

Because now everytime i try to load an older one it crashes during
loading screen. In the most recent saves it simply crashes whenever i
try to go to the Redmond Port.

Maybe it helps if i quickly summarize my quest status :

I was just about to to undertake the first step in the traitors quest.
I was just finished with my religious investigations.
I did not yet finish the `douwesen-branch` of the Mefisto quest to the very last step.
And i did not pick up the "free" Navigator at all.
The goldraid already took place.

I hope i was cryptic enough to save the fun for certain people.
Mabe you now can answer more easily, do i have to junk all my saves ?
I mean it sounds unimportant but i worked hard to become Almirante,
you know.

When you install a new build, you cannot use your old saves - you have to start a new game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

But don't despair - the game as it's modded with the new Build is MUCH better than it was before - and you will have much enjoyment building your career back up again - there are so many great new things!
 
Weird, I thought you could do an inplace upgrade from 10 to 11...

Tell you what: email me your save, and I'll see if I can get it working in 11. (Please zip it first, and give your forum nick and the problem decsription in the email <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ).
 
Ohh yeah of course i will do it. I guess Catalina also missed the
fact that my current saves i am whining about are actually played
with the build 10.1 (which of course stands not a chance to the new,
better and improved build with more content <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_praise.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="icon_praise.gif" /> )

Sorry but if actually just the Mefisto Quest (which dumbo at Disney
was responsible for the spelling there <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> ) doesn't work because
of a code problem i can live with it, for a while that is....

Btw, I have to restart the game in Build 12 anyway, do i ?
I just begun to wonder if there is some description or list
of ships, in case i want to start off with a certain one in the
build, so i can edit the Buildings.h accordingly ?

Hey and nobody actually gave out information about that 30

I loaded your save into a local copy of build 11 and was able to play along the Mefisto quest a ways, with no crashes.

So my guess is that you somehow got a bad version of some build files.
The mefisto quest _does_ work, at least AFAIK, with the latest fixes (yes, it was broken _twice_, in 10 and then 11, but also fixed).

What I'll do is upload just the code to the PA FTP (see sticky in this forum for how to access). Go to the `Upload-Download` Folder, and download bv1_code_only.zip, then extract it with overwrite to your POTC folder.

PS. If you haven't installed Build 11, please do so first and only then extract this archive. You'll need the resources from the original build 11 install.

Hey Sorry again !

I just can't get my `FTP-client` to connect to the server....

I guess i am doing something wrong

But i used the stated username/pw/servername, could it be that i
am using RobustFTP, which was the only client i could grab atm ?

I can't answer as to why you might have trouble connecting. I use smartFTP and it works though. You can download it for free. Just google it and you should be fine.
