Hi.

Cpt.Hawk

Landlubber
I have beaten POTC twice and just found out about this site . i installed B12. very nice work.
i have not done a lot of research on it yet. but Are you able to create custom graphics and input them into the game ?
i have and use Lightwave 7.5 and Maya 6.0 . i am curently going to College for Computer Science. And this is something i would like to get into. i never realized that POTC was this cutomizable. i usualy just insall the game and play it. when i have free time from school that is.

Yeah, you can create custom graphics and input into the game, Lightwave and Maya is work as far I know but I dont do this nor I dont have skill to do it though I do try to learn, but unfortary, I dont have Lightwave and Maya, Heard it cost lot of money.

you are correct about that. they are not to cheap. i would not have them if it was not for my father.

i plan on doing some major research on this tomorrow after Class, on the graphics and many other customizing features..
heading to bed now <--- realy tired =/

anyone know of any links let me know

Have an ale! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

You can use Maya to create all sorts of 3D objects to put into the game, however the plugin (created by Akella) that exports to the .gm file format used in PotC can only be used by Maya 4.5... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> I don't think you can use it for your version of Maya. It also cannot be used by the PLE version of Maya 4.5, if you can find that - it has to be the regular release...

Here are some links you will want to take a look at:

If you can export to VRML, you may be able to use this tool, made by Inez Dias - <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/`ftopic3310-0`.php" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net/`ftopic3310-0`.php</a> Some good tips there, too.

<a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/`ftopic318-0`.php" target="_blank">PA Course on C C+</a> in case you want to dig into the code. Just another little resource. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The code in PotC is not strictly C/C+ but it is close... If you get stuck, just ask, we'll be happy to help point you in the right direction. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

We've got a lot of projects going on now, and it is nice to have another modeler in our midst! Again, welcome aboard! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I think 3DStudioMax exports to VRML - so that may work for you if you don't have the correct version of Maya. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

HI Cat,3D StudioMax 7 exports in VRML97 is that same thing ur no <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I don't really know, Skull. I think so... Inez would know whether her Tool can convert VRML97 to .gm... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

VRML97 should be ok.
For the cow, zozogh used Milkshape to import obj and export VRML. And Vassal's doing it with a musket.
