I hav'nt been here in a while and since i've been going only small updates have been released...
Not to worry I was just wondering what everyone wants to see in the game???

I would like the following:

Kraken: Being able to be attacked from Jones pet.
Multiplayer: How awsome would it be having 16 of your mates roleplaying across the seven seas <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
multiplayer would be awsome. The problem is that we have to figure out some way to write out files from within the program. It would be sweet if we could get it to work though.
 
Why don't we start looking into it???
Theres enough talented people here , The comunity all chips in and we could have something far better then in pirate game.
 
We have to make do with the limitations in the game engine. I'm afraid that enabeling multiplayer would either be extremely difficult and require tons of work or would be impossible altogether. We don't have enough coders to start on something like that: We have only TWO active coders right now, bith of whom have plenty to do already. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

As for the Kraken attack: We might be able to improvise something for that one. The easiest idea that I came up with is to make a floating good that looks like a tentacle. When you are attacked, these goods are generated around your ship and when you sail over them, you take damage. If you manage to avoid most of the tentacles, you might survive the attack.

Pieter, I was having dreams of me, my brother on our laptop and my best mate blowing each other to pieces...
Well, it would be great if you could do multiplayer, It's strange, I'm still making my first ship, and i want to chip in with all of these awsomely hard tasks...
Still, if you find a way, please let me know, at very least I could support the project.

I don't know any way, unless we manage to port our game to the AoP engine (AoP enables multiplayer sea battles).

that would be awesome to have multiplayer battles, also you should be able to have random encounters with the fling dutchman, that would be pretty awesome
 
You can encounter the Flying Dutchman, just set <u><b><i>refShip.CanEncounter = false;</i></b></u> to <i><u><b>refShip.CanEncounter = true;</b></u></i> in the Ships_Init file
 
You can do that, but then it'd be random encounters with random ships that happen to look like the Flying Dutchman; it wouldn't really <i>be</i> the Flying Dutchman.
But I don't think the encounters with the Dutchman should be random. I think they should be quest-based. We don't want to put <i>too</i> much fantasy into the game; that would put off half our players. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
it's pretty awesome if done right. tortuga two treasures has such encounters, with really spooky music, eery weather, and the souls being sucked out of your crew! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> still, i understand your point.

Tortuga is in Build 13, yes. But it's part of the Hispaniola island and doesn't appear on the worldmap as Tortuga.

I forget the name of the island but I cant go to the town by the port cause everyone attacks me, so I try and sneak in the back way and guess wat! a forest! a forest that you get lost in! so finally I just left and blew up the fort :>
 
ah, the good old days of getting last in the jungles. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> don't worry, you'll get over it someday. but in the really dense ones it is indeed sometimes pretty tricky to find the proper exit.
 
I love blowing up forts and stuff, and its really fun to take over towns, but you should be able to take em over for good. also you should be able to design a flag (pick a back ground color and a design and stuff) and like have that flying in the town you took over
