Ideas for boat features whilst at sea.

After trying out Alpha 7 I was wondering if these small additions could be made for Alpha 8. They would help me a bit.

I was wondering. With Malcom you get the chance to practice your sword skills. It'd be pretty cool to be able to practice with your officers. Hence level not just yourself up in Melee but other members of your crew too. I find myself constantly going to islands in order to get my Melee up and the rest of my crew and unfortunately my officers keep dying because they have like Level 1 Melee. It can be pretty annoying and hence I usually fire them. This way I can train them up so they are better use to me. I know you can just fire them and hire someone better but at the same time I'd like to level myself up too, and the higher level guys cost more to hire. It'd be nice to also see some of the crew practicing too up on deck. I'd like to see a lot more crew members on deck as the ship feels pretty empty.

I was also thinking that it'd be cool to be able to sleep on ships. Sleeping in the tavern should be an optional expense in the event that you need to 1. Sleep in a tavern in order to trigger a quest or 2. You don't have a ship. I'd like to sleep on my ship so that I don't have to pay out 5 gold every time and in the event I landed on a shore I could change the time to a day for landing (so that them damn Zombie Monkeys don't come out)- also it can be frustraiting when you are near an enemy port.

It'd be cool to be able to gamble with your officers and crew similar to Davy Jones. Dice anyone. Your bet will be significantly restricted vs the Tavern's gambling as to stop you from making your money back from your crew.

It'd also be good if I could see all the passengers on my boat too (not just the active duty officers and prisoners) as It'd be cool to see them so that I can reassign roles without having to go on land (again this is a pain in the arse when you haven't got a dock and are in enemy waters). [possible bug] I've also noticed that you can multiply assign roles I've had more than 2 navigators at one stage, the only role that should allow this is the Tough role.

These are just a few minor suggestions that I've thought of. What do you guys think?

I think those are great ideas. Why, I made few of them myself <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hmm some of those are good ideas <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I'll tell you what I think are good ideas, as well as sword practice you should be able to spend time teaching your officers in any skill but luck, this should take some time but raise the chosen skill 1 point closer to yours. I'd give you something to do on long voyages. Will taught Elizabeth to sword fight between pirates 1 and 2. Why not us between ports.

Edit: I've been trying my idea myself, but I've hit a wall, how do i check if my skills are higher than those of the NCP.

BTW: You can spend the night in the tavern hall without paying. Your health isn't reset to 100& that way though and you can't take any items from the chest in the room.

Why Thank'ee Pieter. Hav'a Rum <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

That works a treat. A couple more questions to fill in the blanks in my coding language and I should be able to release what I have done.

On the function WaitDate("", 0, 0, 0 0, 0); which of the 0s do I change for hours?

Can I call the name of the character I'm talking to and If so how as I am trying to generate a log message saying who you trained, for how long, and in what?

How do I increase a non player characters skill percentage by a certain amount for a certain skill? (I can do it for the player but I can't see in what way it would need to be changed.)

How do I increase a non player characters skill by an whole number (when autoskillup is turned off.)?

Info would be helpful. First person to help gets my thanks and another rum. I've got the dialogue part of it done its just the actual training that eludes me.
