Interesting glitch

An interesting occurence in the PC version --

I went ashore at the base of the Yucatan peninsula (east coast) to attack the evil Marquis de Montalban. I beat the Indians and then whupped Montalban an collected my winnings. Then, when I pushed the button to return to my ship . . .

I was west side of Mexico/Central America in the Pacific. And I could sail around there and even go ashore, but when I returned to my ship, it was always in the Pacific.

Fortunately, since the Panama Canal had not been dug yet, I had a save to go back to.

Anybody else encounter anything like this?

This bug has been reported before. NO known (or unknown) solution.
Maybe using a trainer with an un-patched game to teleport you to the regular seas. Then back to your regular game.
