Intermittent CTD in sailing mode (build 11)

I usually hate `cross-posting`, but after posting this problem in the Technical section, I realized that a lot more users read and post in this section, and since it's a glitch in the build, it should probably be here anyway. So without further ado...

I'm getting a CTD that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else. It doesn't happen when a `pirate-hunting` quest has been activated--or any quest, for that matter. It's happened to me twice, and has happened to a friend of mine twice in rapid succession. What happens is this:

In sailing mode (usually in battle), when I go into the Passengers menu through F2 to change out my officers (specifically, switching from boatswains to navigator/cannoneer), the game will CTD upon exiting the main F2 screen. The problem is that it doesn't happen every time--like I said, it's only happened to me twice, and I've been playing build 11 for a week solid. On the other hand, it happened in my friend's game (same computer) twice within five minutes.

Has anyone else run across this problem? Because it seems to be intermittent, I'm not sure if pressing 'T' before leaving port has any effect, and I don't know how to turn on/check the error logs when it does CTD. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, since it's a pretty irritating little bug.

NOTE: Tonight the game also crashed when my friend used the "hoist flag" command in battle with pirates. It should be mentioned that the command had already been used before (he flies pirate colors)--does hoisting the flag when it's already been hoisted cause a CTD? I'm sure we'll both be avoiding it in the future, but after playing the game for <i>hours</i> with only the occasional crash (both caused by the aforementioned officer weirdness), it's strange to see it crash three times in less than a `half-hour`.

if you get a ctd when exiting the f2 menu it may be because it's trying to render something that you've just removed (e.g. if you change your officers during a battle). it happened to me when i first put in the ship berthing mod; if you berthed a ship when you were in the same area as the ship, you woudl get a crash (in the latest version of that mod the game has to reload the location if you berth a ship and you are stood in the port area). are you allowed to change officers during battle in the original game?

if it's more random than that, then i don't have any ideas... perhaps the game has a memory leak (modded or unmodded) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sleep.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="-_-" border="0" alt="sleep.gif" />

The thing is that the CTD has only happened during <i>sea</i> battle, when the officers being changed aren't shown, and thus aren't being rendered. Incidentally, I haven't had a CTD since I posted this, so it might be an extremely random thing.

I get that same error too sometimes, and I'm sorry to say I have absolutely no idea as to its cause.
It doesn't even leave a trace in the error/compile/system logs.

Yep, I hate it when it doesn't say a THING in the logs after you've had a CTD. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />
