Is this because of a mod?

I was playing POTC last night. What ive essentually done is just been raiding pirate ships and enemy ships. Ive sunk and boarded a whole bunch but I usually execute the captured captain unless the ransom is huge. ANyways because of all this im a Terror Of The High Seas, and the `store-owner` and shipyard dude in Redmond wont talk to me, and I was trying to become high up in british navy. Because No one in Redmond will talk to me tho I was forced to turn colors and join the Pirates. Is there any way to avoid this happening to me in the future? And is this due to a mod or would this happen to me regardless?

Executing prisoners affects your reputation.

The easiest way to start to fix this is not to execute anyone anymore and go into the jungle on any island and you might come across a girl who is in trouble, just rescue her and slowly your rep will increase.

This will take quite a lot of time and effort to do.

i wish there was a mad rep mod like in sea dogs...you know that 40 rep points went to good use to some ppl like myself, when you let the space bar down for 3 hrs......,has anyone done that yet?

There's always the cheats (one of which increases rep) or you can do a `make-it`-yourself cheat with the console.

You get XP, yes, but also rep.

Better to take the reward and let the authorities "deal with" the prisoner as they see fit.
