Woops forgot to change the dialog from Nigel Blythe (nice pickup)
So if the soldiers "kill" you and you try and do the quest you can't? :?
Or you can if you run through the cellar and go to the plantation that way :?
If this is the case I think I know a way around it
If the soldiers "kill" you and you exit the tavern by the cellar the quest continues ok.
If you exit out the main tavern door and go through the port to the Plantation, there is no Gombo at the Plantation & Slavers just tell you not to talk to the slaves. No quest book update. So you have a dead end with no way forward.
Perhaps if the soldiers "kill" you it should be made a dead end. Since the Tavern servant says you have been lying there for 4 days, Gombo would have been killed by the slavers by then - so just close the quest book - quest failed. (or just game over - skull & crossbones screen).
