JMVs Military Pack - Runtime Error

its me again

and an other problem:

i wanted to install the really nice skins of JMV but every time i try to install the files i get a runtime error and i dont know why.
heard about some missing backslashs in one of the files but cant alos find it. well - i think it was fixed .... so i dont know what to do.


btw: will be JMVs military packs part of build 12 ?

The easiest solution is to add the backslashes. The best solution is to download the updated version from the FTP server.

To add the backslashes, open quest_reaction.c in your POTC/program/quests folder. Search for "JMV575"

You should find things that look like this:

--> JMV575

and

<-- JMV575

Change them to this:

//--> JMV575

and

//<--JMV575

Like I said, that is the easiest solution,

The best solution is to download an FTP program (they are free) and log on to the Pirate's Ahoy FTP server (there is a sticky thread at the top of this forum with details on the FTP server and instructions). Once logged on find a file called, "JMV575 -- Britain, Spain, France Military Reskins -- `1793-1815`.rar" That will include more skins as well as fixing all the errors.

Yes, it will be included in Build 12.

two more question:

why is there no NEW uniform at the `tailors-shop`? maybe because i wear a another uniform?
do i get a `rank-spezific` uniform, when i choose a military carrer? and how?

I did not add support for the tailor mod until the latest version. If you want to be able to buy them, then you must install the newer version from the FTP server.

Oh, so there is a problem with it not showing up in tailors? What nation? I know you have to atleast have a Letter of Marque in the service of the nation to buy their uniforms. I am certain that the Spanish ones work, haven't seriously `play-tested` the French and British, I'm afraid.

k.... thats the point.
i need the letter.... k. well - but i was able to bought the spanisch capt- uniform for me and a `lt-uniform` for one of my officers without the letter.... at the moment i ve a letter (from england) - ill try if i can buy a english one.

I'm currently working on Portuguese and Dutch uniforms to try and get them all in the build; or did you mean more faces and ranks? I've thought about doing midshipman and warrant officers, but I don't know what they looked like in the French, Dutch, and Portuguese Navies.

I checked the code again. It is set up that you need to be in the service of a nation before you can buy their uniforms. You can change, that, if you want by opening up initModels.c in your programmodels directory. Find:

model.minrank = 1;

Change the 1 to a 0 and you should be able to buy them all the time.

nice jmv, i hope we all get ur skins soon (all kind of skins!)
to create some more face is a great idea! but more ranks is also a good idea.... well, do both and make me happy twice <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

some points:

- think of creating some `nation-depending` skins for crewman and officiers (skins for crewman automatically when having a letter of m. and some nice skins for officiers at the store)
i like to command a ship, where the crew looks more like soldiers than farmboys <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

- check if u re really able to buy uniforms when u have the right rank. like i said: i was able to buy a spanish uniform (captain and lt- grade) and i had no letter! i also was able to buy `admirals-uniforms` in differnt `nation-tailor`-store. thats a little bit strange ..... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

last one: at the french tailor theres a `admiral-uniform` with a really ugly face of an old man .... would suggest to alter that. dont want to become admiral if i would look like this

btw: if u re looking for some uniforms: try to get some books of "osprey" (maybe in a library). its one of the best source.

Thanks for the offer. Yes, those are very good books. I'm actually going to be driving to a larger library tomorrow to get some more materials. I think I've found everything there is on the internet. Well, maybe not everything.
