Probably Catalina may know the answer to this, however, i throw it out to tender:

On the file server there are a few "loose" files. One being keywords.c. what is the significance of this file and what will it do if i replace the original with it? is there a way of finding out what it actually does in terms of individual items and modifying as needed.

Nothing happens if you replace the file from build with the one from ftp server. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

This means as written in keywords.c that theirin are explained important things to the script used by PotC.
