Laptop Crashed

At home, I have a desktop and a laptop. My laptop is the better computer and it crashed a couple of days ago. I hadn't played Pirates! on it for a bit, but it was in the top two to get back on once I had it restored.

I remember having problems with the controls initially since I don't have a numpad on it, but I thought I had that resolved. I didn't get the keymap file before the crash.

I can't seem to find the right combination to make it work and I'm wondering if it ever did. Maybe I just always played on my desktop??? I can't just press the NumLock and get it to stick. Like others, I have to also press the Fn key and that seems to make it go, but not preferred.

Has anyone ever found a workaround for this? I spent some time yesterday editing the keymap file, but no luck.

I figured it out. I don't recall this being an issue last time, but edited the keyboard file again and this time used the text to the left of the ;. Those keys seem to work fine and now I can play on the laptop without using the Fn key.

Here's a copy of my keyboard file in case it helps others.

edit: When the message gets posted, there are spaces missing between each command and the following ;. You may need to put at least one space between them for it to work properly. I'm not sure.

Are you saying that some faulty settings in the keymap made the computer crash?

Do you have patched or unpatched US version or the Euro version of the game?

No.

They were unrelated. It's just that I thought I had this game working fine on the laptop before it crashed and I didn't copy off my keyboard file and had to rebuild it.

I was having problems and after searching through the threads, I saw other people were also so I posted my fix.
