Leadership Skill ?

Guys - could you clarify a question pertaining to the Leadership Skill category and/or the ability/frequency of officers available.

I've been surfing walkthroughs/cheats/hints/tips/FAQ and I'm getting conflicting info.
* one said in a cheat = set all skill categories to "9"
* another said you can set the others(..not Leadership) to whatever you like, but leave Leadership at "1"

The reason given for "1" was: more officers available and they grow with your character.

As my game stands, I have only Lionel Mariner snd Ed Fortman(?).
I need better officers and some with good sailing stats.
I'd like to have some female officers; ok, I'm a guy and prefer a nicer view:)

I'm not finding any officers since I moved Leadership to "6"..
I believe Lionel was added at "1" and Ed at "3".

Some background: I'm physically disabled and the enemy AI is tougher than I can handle without being a bit overpowered vs where I'm at in the game.
As a friend from the Tech forum has mentioned: "The game gets harder".
So, I'm trying to get everything a good as I can so I can hopefully make it thru 2/3-3/4 of this game.

Which comes back to my thread ?.
* should I keep gong with with "6" in Leadership ... will I get some good officers in due time (...still in Oxbay) ... I can't go on till I feel my party is looking as good as I think it will need to be :)
* should I start over ... keep Leadership at "1"(...bank points to pump it up when I feel my party is acceptable)

I play 6hrs each day, so I have time to wait it out or start over.
I'd like to keep going, as I have nice weapons, but if I can't add good officers, no point in running around in the jungle ... I've already amassed $700,000 just saving damsels in distress :)

How exactly does your Leadership level affect the frquency of officers available for hire ?
Do I need to move to a new island, or can I just stay in Oxbay and wait till the game spawns new officers ... not sure how long in game hours(..day/night cycle) before new officers pop up ... think I gone 2 cycles and more characters have poopped up in town; by Oxbay-Greenford sign in jungle and by that large stone off the right passage out of town = none were officers(... many were women with swords, but only offered advice + men who were selling stuff)

Any clarification/help/hints/tips etc is appreciated.
Thanks !

Guys - nevermind; found some officers.
None showed up for a long time, then a bunch popped up ?

Even found a female officer who shadow fights(... explained in my newbie ? thread).

CptYuke - well, I'm up to 6 female officers.
But, they dress like Amish women and my character will not reply "ok" to any proposal :)
So, I don't see any wine/women/song.
I'm badgering Pieter to add wine/women/song to Build 13 :)

you can do that yourselff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> but i can't explain it as good as pieter can

You can find wine every now and then. And you can buy it at the Quebradas Costillas brothel. You need to enable the brothel in BuildSettings.h using the ENABLE_BROTHEL setting and a new game is required when you change that setting. There are women there as well, of course. And as far as the music is concerned: There is some nice music to be heard in taverns. I recently added the Two Hornpipes track from Dead Man's Chest there as well, which fits really well in the taverns as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
