how do i get a letter of Marque from (privateering license) from the gov and NOT the diplomat @ the pirate ports? ive done church missions (nightwatch/cave clearance), gov missions (jungle cleaning/pirate hunting) but im offered this mission to go get a package from someone in the spanish town and everytime i try it i fail. any hints???

you enter the spanish port... and even a letter of marque will not help you.
a trading licence will.
remember... wear a spanish-friendly flag when going there, or you will be shot before you can show your "friendly" intentions" to anyone.

for a privateer licence: be even more friendly to the gov'nor... 20 missions+, and he will offer it.
been there once... but always buy my licences at a pirate town.

ugh, ive been trying and trying, i have a neutral relationship with spain/england/netherlands and admiration from france, no bounty hunters, bout 1/2 the distance to cartagena from Port Royale, i switch my flag from french to spain, then sail to cartagena, and go to sea mode,still it says "you've beend idenftified as enemy" and the fort starts firing on me. WTH am i doing wrong? smh. this is one mission they couldve left off.

how do i get a trading license? from the diplomat? im trying to get a privateer from the Gov' of france but it says "i dont know you @ all"

i was only once, in 1.5 years of gaming offered a licence from a governor.
i buy them as the sneaky diplomat in pirate harbors.

DO read the manual, and think a bit.
you are french.
If you come up there in front of they noses wearing a spanish flag in broad daylight, that smells like a bloody LIE. and they draw their weapons on you in double quick time.

is he spanish? no.
is he pretending to be spanish?
yes.
is he a liar? YES. SHOOT THE BASTAGE!!!!

Is he pretending to be spanish? No.
what is he pretending to be? Dutch.
Could he really BE dutch? maybe.
Does he have a Trading Licence?No.
Could he be french??!!! (stealth decides yes or no)

Do we care what nation he is, if he has a paper that says he can come here? NO.

understand:
you can get past the forth with a friendly Flag. But do not make your lies TOO obvious.
you can get past the guards art the pier/ city
- at night by being sneaky, not be talked to by a walking guard
- in daylight by having a licence and showing it at the pier
- in daylight by pretending to be friendly, without any paper to prove you are... always a risky business.

Once again:
bring all the factors, all the chances on your side, before even thinking of going into the Lions lair....
have Papers to back up your claims. Have a credible story at the ready or be as sneaky, stealthy and invisible as an ant.
Otherwise... death Row.

I would like to repeat this part... it does not only apply to this situation, but to all situations in the game, be that naval or land fights, Bombarding a fort to raid a city... Going to kill a pirate ship that is cruising around the Island or killing a Bandit in the Djungle...
Everything you do.

bring all the factors, all the chances on your side, before even thinking of going into the Lions lair....
